Senior Boiler Engineer – ASME/Pressure Vessel Code

Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Boiler Engineer with foundational knowledge of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) to assist with the design, documentation, and compliance of boilers and pressure vessels. This is an excellent opportunity for recent engineering graduates or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience and grow under the mentorship of senior engineers in a technically demanding field.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Technical Support:

  • Assist in performing basic engineering calculations for pressure vessels and boiler components under the supervision of senior engineers.

  • Support the development of engineering drawings and models using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

  • Help ensure design documentation aligns with ASME BPVC Section I and VIII, and related standards.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Assist in preparing code documentation, including data reports, material traceability, and inspection checklists.

  • Support internal audits and third-party ASME inspections by gathering technical evidence and records.

  • Maintain accurate engineering and quality documentation for each project.

Project Support:

  • Participate in boiler and pressure vessel projects from concept through fabrication and inspection stages.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA/QC, procurement, and manufacturing.

  • Help track project milestones and deliverables in accordance with engineering schedules.

Inspection and Testing:

  • Support the inspection team during fabrication, hydro testing, and code stamping procedures.

  • Learn to interpret and apply NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and welding inspection requirements under ASME Section V and IX.

Learning and Development:

  • Gain knowledge of materials, welding, and fabrication practices related to pressure-retaining components.

  • Participate in training related to ASME code, NBIC, and plant safety standards.

  • Stay updated on engineering best practices and regulatory changes affecting pressure equipment.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Coursework or academic project work in thermodynamics, heat transfer, pressure vessel design, or mechanical design preferred.

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of experience in a mechanical engineering or design role (internships/co-ops count).

  • Familiarity with ASME BPVC and pressure vessel concepts is an advantage.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of pressure vessel and boiler components.

  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).

  • Exposure to engineering tools such as PV Elite, Compress, or FEA tools is a plus.

  • Basic understanding of material specifications (e.g., ASTM/ASME) and welding procedures.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Willingness to learn and take initiative under supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.

  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
