Job Description: Junior - Security Consultant

Job Summary

The Junior Security Consultant plays a vital role in assisting organizations to identify, assess, and mitigate security risks. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to begin their careers in cybersecurity. Working under the guidance of senior consultants, the Junior Security Consultant will implement security solutions that enhance system integrity and protect sensitive information. The role requires a proactive approach to learning and a commitment to staying updated on the latest security trends and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing security assessments and audits of IT infrastructure, systems, and applications to identify potential vulnerabilities.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and provide actionable recommendations for security improvements to enhance organizational security posture.
  • Support senior consultants in the design and implementation of effective security systems tailored to meet client needs.
  • Participate in the development and execution of security training programs for staff to promote awareness and compliance with security policies.
  • Assist with incident response and investigation activities to address security breaches and mitigate risks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of detailed reports on security vulnerabilities, risk assessments, and recommended remediation strategies.
  • Help configure and manage security tools and technologies, including firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Basic understanding of information security principles and best practices.
  • Familiarity with common security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS.
  • Knowledge of common attack methods including phishing, malware, and social engineering.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, encryption, and secure coding practices.
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and network environments.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to effectively identify and resolve security issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to clearly report findings and collaborate with team members.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Security-related certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker) are a plus.

Experience

  • Understanding of SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems.
