Job Summary:
The Senior Safety Systems Engineer is responsible for leading the design, maintenance, and optimization of safety-critical systems in oil and gas operations. This role involves managing complex safety projects, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and providing technical leadership to teams. The engineer drives innovation, mentors junior staff, and contributes to strategic initiatives to enhance operational safety and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
System Oversight and Optimization:
- Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of advanced safety systems, including fire and gas detection systems, emergency shutdown devices, and pressure relief mechanisms.
- Develop and implement advanced preventive maintenance strategies to ensure system reliability and minimize downtime.
- Analyze system performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Diagnose and resolve critical and complex issues in safety systems using advanced tools and methodologies.
- Conduct root cause analyses for recurring faults and develop long-term corrective action plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to address technical challenges and improve system performance.
System Integration and Upgrades:
- Oversee the integration, testing, and commissioning of new safety systems and upgrades.

Safety Leadership and Compliance:

Project Management:

Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of system configurations, calibration logs, and performance metrics.

- Refine and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for safety-critical operations.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers and technicians.

- Proficiency in SCADA/DCS platforms and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, HART, Profibus).
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, risk management practices, and environmental compliance in oil and gas.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in safety systems, process automation, or project management (e.g., NEBOSH, PMP, ISA SIS) are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in safety systems engineering, including maintenance, optimization, and project execution.
- Proven track record of managing complex technical tasks and leading multidisciplinary teams.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise in diagnostic tools, including gas analyzers, pressure calibrators, and advanced monitoring equipment.
