Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Senior SCADA and RTU Field Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and RTU (Remote Terminal Unit) systems. This role involves fieldwork to ensure reliable data acquisition and control from remote sites to central monitoring stations, particularly in utility, infrastructure, or industrial automation environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead field installations and commissioning of SCADA and RTU systems at remote and on-site facilities.

  • Configure, calibrate, and test RTU hardware and SCADA communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC 60870).

  • Conduct diagnostics and repair of communication failures and device malfunctions in the field.

  • Supervise and mentor junior technicians during troubleshooting, testing, and installation works.

  • Interface with engineers to validate control system designs and field wiring diagrams.

  • Maintain documentation for configuration, site inspections, and field reports.

  • Perform firmware upgrades, system backups, and field validation of software logic.

  • Coordinate with control room staff and network engineers to ensure signal integrity and performance.

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality standards during field activities.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related technical discipline.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with SCADA systems, RTUs, and communication networks.

  • Strong knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, TCP/IP, RS-232/485).

  • Experience with PLCs, telemetry systems, HMI software, and data acquisition tools.

  • Proficient in using test equipment such as multimeters, protocol analyzers, and configuration software.

  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.

  • Valid UAE driving license preferred (for fieldwork access).
