The Junior SCADA and RTU Field Technician supports the installation, testing, and maintenance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) at field locations. The role involves assisting in communication setup, wiring, field integration, and basic diagnostics to ensure reliable real-time monitoring and control of industrial processes.
Assist in the installation and field wiring of RTUs, PLCs, modems, antennas, and SCADA interface devices.
Support site inspections and data collection for SCADA/RTU system deployment.
Help configure communication devices (e.g., radio, cellular, Ethernet, fiber) and test telemetry signal strength.
Participate in loop checks, I/O verification, and testing of analog and digital signals.
Assist in troubleshooting SCADA-related issues such as lost communication, power failures, and sensor misreadings.
Learn to read and interpret SCADA architecture diagrams, I/O lists, and network topology drawings.
Help document field installation data, perform minor redlining of schematics, and maintain site logs.
Support HMI screen verification, alarm testing, and system diagnostics under the supervision of senior engineers.
Follow all safety protocols during site work including LOTO, PPE usage, and confined space awareness.
Travel to remote substations, pump stations, and utility facilities as required.
Diploma or Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, or Automation Engineering
0–2 years of field experience in SCADA, RTU, or automation systems (internship/project work preferred)
Basic understanding of SCADA components, PLCs, and remote communication systems
Familiarity with hand tools, multimeters, and basic test equipment
Willingness to travel to field locations and work under varying site conditions
Strong interest in SCADA systems, telemetry, and industrial networking
Eagerness to learn from senior engineers and follow structured technical procedures
Ability to read simple wiring diagrams and follow checklists
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
High attention to safety and site discipline
