Job Title: PLC/SCADA Control System (Water Treatment)
Job Summary:
The Senior SCADA Systems Engineer (Water Treatment) is responsible for leading the design, integration, optimization, and maintenance of SCADA systems used in water treatment facilities. This role involves managing the entire SCADA infrastructure, ensuring its seamless integration with other control systems (e.g., PLCs, RTUs, DCS), optimizing system performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Senior SCADA Systems Engineer will provide leadership to a team of engineers, collaborate with various departments, and play a key role in the ongoing development and innovation of SCADA systems for water treatment operations.
Key Responsibilities:
SCADA System Architecture and Design:
- Lead the design and architecture of SCADA systems for water treatment plants, ensuring seamless integration with PLCs, RTUs, sensors, and other field devices.
- Define and implement best practices for SCADA configuration, user interfaces (HMI), and control strategies.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of SCADA network infrastructure, ensuring secure and reliable communication across all components of the water treatment system.
System Optimization and Performance Monitoring:
- Ensure SCADA systems are operating optimally by continuously monitoring system performance, analyzing data, and implementing improvements to optimize process control.
- Oversee the configuration of alarms, data trending, and historical data storage to ensure efficient monitoring of critical water treatment parameters (e.g., flow rates, water quality, tank levels).
- Lead the integration of new sensors, equipment, and technologies to enhance system performance and reliability.
Project Leadership and Management:
- Manage SCADA-related projects from concept to implementation, ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet performance requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, operations) to ensure that SCADA systems are designed to meet the unique needs of the water treatment processes.
- Ensure that project milestones are met, and any issues are addressed promptly to minimize disruption to water treatment operations.
Troubleshooting and System Troubleshooting Leadership:
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex SCADA system issues, including integration problems, sensor failures, or software malfunctions.
- Provide guidance to engineers and technicians on root cause analysis for complex issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Mentor junior engineers on troubleshooting techniques and system maintenance to build technical expertise across the team.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Ensure accurate collection and management of real-time and historical SCADA data, generating performance reports, operational metrics, and system diagnostics.
- Develop and implement strategies for data analysis and reporting to improve operational efficiency, water quality management, and regulatory compliance.
- Use data to recommend enhancements and modifications to existing SCADA systems, ensuring continuous improvement in water treatment processes.
- Wiring and Cabling:
- Perform PLC panel wiring and SCADA server panel wiring.
- Execute LAN and network cabling tasks.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct housekeeping and routine maintenance of PLC panels and SCADA servers.
- Assist in troubleshooting PLC/SCADA systems and field instruments.
- Perform I/O loop testing during project inspections.
- Support and Coordination:
- Assist client engineers with control system troubleshooting and related tasks.
- Handle any additional tasks related to the control system as assigned by client engineers.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and ensure proper housekeeping of all control system panels and related equipment.

Skills and Knowledge Required:
- In-depth experience with SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, Siemens WinCC, Rockwell FactoryTalk) and PLC systems.
- Strong knowledge of water treatment processes and the role SCADA systems play in monitoring and controlling these processes.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques for performance optimization, reporting, and process improvement.
- Proficient in troubleshooting SCADA system issues and working with industrial control systems.
- Ability to manage large-scale projects and lead cross-functional teams to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
- Expertise in data management, report generation, and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with various teams and report to senior management on system performance and optimization.

Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma or ITI Certificate in a relevant technical field. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant certifications in SCADA systems, PLC programming, water treatment systems, or industrial automation are a plus.
Experience:
- 5+ years of Experience in PLC panel wiring, I/O testing, LAN cabling, and field instrument maintenance. SCADA system design, integration, and optimization, ideally in the water treatment or related industries.
- Proven experience in leading SCADA projects, troubleshooting, and optimizing systems in complex industrial environments.
- Hands-on experience in the maintenance of PLCs, SCADA servers, and troubleshooting panel and field issues.
- Experience with data analysis, process optimization, and compliance within the water treatment sector is highly desirable.
Tools and Technologies:
- Expertise with SCADA platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, Ignition, Rockwell FactoryTalk).
- Proficiency with PLC programming, industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC), and control systems.
- Familiarity with water treatment processes and technologies, including monitoring, filtration, and quality control.
- Knowledge of data analysis and performance monitoring tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Excel).
Skills & Competencies:
