Job Title: SCADA Systems Engineer (Water Treatment)
Job Summary:
The Junior SCADA Systems Engineer (Water Treatment) is responsible for assisting in the configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems used in water treatment plants. This role provides an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world water treatment processes, helping ensure the smooth operation of SCADA systems and supporting various automation technologies. The Junior SCADA Systems Engineer will work alongside senior engineers to learn about the integration of SCADA with PLCs, sensors, and other control systems while assisting in maintaining system performance and supporting operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
SCADA System Configuration and Setup:
- Assist in setting up and configuring SCADA systems for water treatment facilities, including connecting field devices (sensors, transmitters, etc.) to SCADA systems.
- Help in configuring the SCADA user interface (HMI) for operators to monitor real-time data from various equipment and systems within the plant.
- Assist with system installation and basic hardware setup, including sensors and other field instruments, ensuring they are linked to the SCADA system.
System Monitoring and Data Collection:
- Monitor the performance of SCADA systems to ensure real-time data is accurately displayed, including critical parameters such as flow, pressure, temperature, and water quality.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data from SCADA systems to support plant performance monitoring and decision-making.
- Support the generation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports based on SCADA data to track system performance and water treatment operations.
Troubleshooting and Technical Support:
- Provide basic support for troubleshooting SCADA system issues, including connectivity problems, alarm system failures, and data inaccuracies.
- Work closely with senior engineers to resolve minor SCADA system issues, assisting in diagnosing and fixing communication errors or data acquisition problems.
- Assist with identifying and resolving minor technical issues related to field devices, communication systems, or SCADA software.
System Integration and Testing:
- Support senior engineers in integrating SCADA systems with PLCs, RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), and other control systems used in water treatment processes.
- Assist in testing new systems and software to ensure they operate correctly, meet performance requirements, and comply with industry standards.
- Help verify that SCADA systems communicate effectively with other components of the water treatment system during commissioning and integration.
Collaboration with Operational Teams:
- Work closely with operators, maintenance teams, and other engineering departments to ensure that SCADA systems function correctly and meet operational requirements.
- Assist in providing basic technical support to operators and staff for troubleshooting and using SCADA systems efficiently.
- Participate in team meetings to share system performance insights, discuss any issues, and assist with improvements in SCADA operations.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously develop technical knowledge in SCADA systems, water treatment processes, and industrial automation through hands-on experience and mentorship from senior engineers.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to improve your knowledge of SCADA software, PLC programming, and control systems.
- Stay updated on new SCADA technologies, software, and best practices in automation to support system improvements and innovations.
Safety and Compliance Support:
- Ensure that all SCADA-related work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and internal operational procedures.
- Work with senior engineers to ensure that safety protocols are followed when working with SCADA systems and associated hardware.

- Learning and Development: Build hands-on experience with SCADA systems and water treatment technologies while improving technical skills.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of SCADA systems, industrial control systems, and automation technologies.
- Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, and other control devices used in water treatment applications.
- Basic knowledge of SCADA software and user interface design, with a willingness to learn more advanced aspects.
- Ability to analyze system data and assist in troubleshooting system performance issues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn quickly in a technical environment.
- Good communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and assist with troubleshooting and system maintenance.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic coursework, internships, or projects related to SCADA systems, PLC programming, or water treatment processes is a plus.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in SCADA systems, industrial automation, or water treatment.
- Prior exposure to SCADA systems, PLC programming, or automation through academic projects or internships is beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, Ignition) is an advantage.
- Exposure to PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and control systems is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of data collection and analysis tools for troubleshooting SCADA systems.
