The Senior Rotating Machinery Supervisor is responsible for leading all aspects of rotating equipment maintenance, reliability, and performance improvement. This role oversees the planning, execution, and optimization of maintenance strategies for critical rotating machinery, including pumps, turbines, compressors, motors, gearboxes, and fans. The incumbent ensures technical excellence, operational readiness, and compliance with industry and safety standards while mentoring technical staff and driving long-term asset reliability goals.
Leadership & Oversight:
Manage and supervise a team of mechanical technicians and contractors responsible for maintaining rotating machinery.
Lead shutdown and turnaround planning for rotating equipment overhauls and major repairs.
Ensure strict adherence to maintenance schedules, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting:
Provide advanced troubleshooting for complex mechanical failures (e.g., misalignment, unbalance, resonance, seal and bearing failures).
Validate vibration and thermography data with reliability teams; recommend corrective actions and long-term solutions.
Review and interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and OEM documentation.
Maintenance Strategy & Reliability Improvement:
Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for all rotating equipment.
Drive reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) initiatives and equipment performance optimization programs.
Collaborate with engineering and reliability teams for root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and continuous improvement projects.
Project & Resource Management:
Define scope and budget for major mechanical interventions and capital projects related to rotating assets.
Coordinate with procurement and planning for parts availability and contractor engagement.
Monitor KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, equipment downtime, and work backlog.
Team Development & Mentorship:
Mentor and develop junior supervisors, technicians, and apprentices.
Organize training programs for best practices in alignment, balancing, seal installation, and safe maintenance execution.
Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure all maintenance activities are properly recorded in the CMMS (SAP, Maximo, etc.).
Maintain full compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.
Conduct technical audits and lead incident investigations when required.
Strategic Maintenance Planning:
Design and lead proactive maintenance strategies to maximize asset life and performance.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
Expert-level problem-solving on critical rotating assets using diagnostic tools and reliability data.
Team Leadership & Mentorship:
Build a high-performing maintenance team through technical guidance and skill development.
Reliability Improvement:
Drive RCFA, failure prevention initiatives, and integration of predictive maintenance insights.
Turnaround & Project Execution:
Lead rotating machinery scope in shutdowns and capital maintenance projects with focus on safety, time, and cost.
Regulatory & OEM Compliance:
Ensure equipment maintenance and operation align with all relevant safety, environmental, and technical standards.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred).
10–15 years of experience in rotating machinery maintenance in heavy industry, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of rotating equipment (API/ANSI standard pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, gearboxes, etc.).
Familiar with advanced condition monitoring tools (vibration, ultrasound, thermography) and failure diagnostics.
Proficient in CMMS platforms (SAP PM, Maximo) and maintenance planning.
Certification in vibration analysis, machinery alignment, or reliability engineering is a strong asset.
Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
