The Junior Rotating Machinery Supervisor is responsible for supporting the supervision, inspection, and maintenance of rotating equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, turbines, and fans. This entry-level supervisory role focuses on ensuring proper operation, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and coordinating minor repair or overhaul tasks under guidance from senior team members. The role is ideal for individuals with hands-on experience and technical understanding of mechanical systems seeking to grow into a leadership position.
Equipment Monitoring & Support:
Assist in monitoring and inspecting rotating machinery for abnormal behavior, noise, vibration, or leaks.
Help schedule and coordinate minor repairs and maintenance activities.
Support the execution of daily and routine maintenance tasks on pumps, motors, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
Assist in troubleshooting mechanical faults, ensuring proper alignment, lubrication, and component functionality.
Participate in dismantling and reassembly of rotating equipment during routine maintenance or outages.
Collaborate with maintenance technicians and contractors for component replacements and fit-up.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, inspections, and work completed.
Report equipment performance issues to senior supervisors and reliability engineers.
Contribute to the maintenance of equipment history and CMMS updates.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with plant and safety regulations.
Participate in toolbox talks and contribute to a culture of safety and reliability.
Team Coordination:
Coordinate with mechanical technicians and external vendors during equipment servicing.
Communicate clearly with operations to minimize equipment downtime.
Basic Knowledge of Rotating Equipment:
Understand the function and components of common rotating machinery (e.g., pumps, motors, fans).
Hands-On Maintenance Support:
Assist with inspection, basic troubleshooting, and minor maintenance tasks.
Team Coordination:
Serve as a junior point of contact for task allocation and coordination with technicians and vendors.
Safety & Operational Discipline:
Follow maintenance safety practices and ensure equipment is serviced in accordance with plant guidelines.
Recordkeeping & Reporting:
Maintain detailed logs and assist with CMMS entries and work order updates.
Learning & Development:
Show strong willingness to learn from senior team members and grow technical and leadership skills.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent.
2–3 years of hands-on experience with mechanical systems or rotating machinery maintenance.
Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, alignment, and common maintenance tools.
Familiarity with CMMS systems is a plus.
