Job Title: Robotics Control Engineer (Manufacturing)

Job Summary:

The Robotics Control Engineer (Fresher) is responsible for providing support in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of robotic systems used in manufacturing processes. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to work with robotic systems, control algorithms, and automation technologies. The Robotics Control Engineer will assist senior engineers in configuring, testing, and maintaining robotic systems, ensuring that they operate smoothly, safely, and meet production requirements. The position provides hands-on learning experiences in industrial automation, robotics, and control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Robotic System Setup and Configuration:

    • Assist in the installation, setup, and configuration of robotic systems, including the calibration of robotic arms, sensors, and controllers.
    • Support the integration of robots with other factory automation systems, such as conveyors, vision systems, and PLCs.
    • Help configure robotic control software to ensure correct operation within production workflows.
  2. Testing and Commissioning:

    • Participate in the testing and commissioning of robotic systems to ensure they meet production specifications and safety requirements.
    • Assist in running initial system tests, troubleshooting any issues during testing, and ensuring robots are functioning as expected.
    • Perform basic robot program tests and report on performance during the commissioning process.
  3. Programming Support:

    • Assist in writing and modifying robot programs using robot programming languages (e.g., teach pendants, ROS, Python, etc.) to automate tasks such as welding, material handling, or assembly.
    • Support senior engineers in developing control algorithms for robot movements, path planning, and interaction with other machines or sensors.
    • Test and troubleshoot robot programs to ensure that robots perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  4. Monitoring and Maintenance:

    • Help monitor the performance of robotic systems during production, ensuring that robots operate at optimal efficiency.
    • Assist in performing routine maintenance and inspections on robotic systems, identifying minor issues and notifying senior engineers of any concerns.
    • Support the troubleshooting of minor robotic system faults or errors, working with senior engineers to resolve more complex issues.
  5. Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Assist in collecting data from robotic systems to analyze performance, cycle times, and quality metrics.
    • Support the preparation of reports related to robot performance, downtime, and maintenance activities for production teams and management.
    • Help create and maintain logs of robotic system configurations, tests, and changes for future reference and system audits.
  6. Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Work with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and quality control, to ensure that robotic systems are fully integrated and meet production goals.
    • Provide support to production operators and maintenance staff in using robotic systems effectively and ensuring smooth operation.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss ongoing tasks, challenges, and improvements in robotic system performance.
  7. Learning and Development:

    • Develop technical knowledge and skills in robotic systems, control systems, and automation technologies through hands-on experience.
    • Participate in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship from senior engineers to enhance programming and control skills.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in robotics and automation technology to continuously improve knowledge.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Robotics Setup and Integration: Assist in the setup, configuration, and integration of robotic systems with other manufacturing systems.
  • Programming Support: Help program robots and control systems to automate tasks and improve production efficiency.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Support the maintenance and troubleshooting of robotic systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Learning and Skill Development: Build hands-on experience with robotics and automation technologies.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of robotic systems, control algorithms, and automation concepts.
  • Familiarity with robotic programming languages (e.g., teach pendants, Python, ROS) is a plus.
  • Understanding of industrial automation systems such as PLCs, sensors, and machine vision systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and troubleshoot robotic system faults.
  • Willingness to learn and improve skills in robotics programming, automation technologies, and industrial systems.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Basic coursework or certifications in robotics programming, automation systems, or control systems is a plus.

Experience:

  • No prior full-time experience required. Internships, academic projects, or hands-on training in robotics, automation, or manufacturing systems will be considered an asset.
  • Exposure to robotic systems, programming, or automation environments through academic coursework or projects is advantageous.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Exposure to robotic programming platforms (e.g., KUKA, ABB, Fanuc) is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with robotics control software, PLC programming, and machine vision systems is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting robotic systems.
