The Junior Relief Valve Technician assists in the inspection, testing, servicing, and calibration of Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs) to ensure safe and reliable overpressure protection for mechanical systems. This entry-level role involves working under the supervision of senior technicians and following strict safety and quality standards in accordance with regulatory codes and internal procedures.
Assist in disassembly, inspection, cleaning, lapping, and reassembly of PSVs.
Support in-pressure testing, calibration, and set point verification using test benches and related tools.
Help maintain accurate documentation and test reports as per applicable standards (ASME, API, ISO).
Prepare valves for hydrostatic or pneumatic testing and record test parameters.
Follow safety protocols during valve removal, installation, and pressurized testing.
Perform visual and dimensional inspection of valve components to identify wear or damage.
Ensure proper tagging, traceability, and maintenance of valve service history.
Learn and apply OEM specifications, shop procedures, and industry best practices.
PSV Servicing & Rebuild Support: Participate in end-to-end PSV servicing processes including dismantling, inspection, cleaning, lapping, and assembly.
Test Bench Operations: Assist in pressure testing of relief valves using pneumatic or hydraulic test benches.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all work adheres to API 576/527, ASME Section VIII, and internal QA/QC protocols.
Safety Practices: Maintain high safety standards while handling pressurized systems and hazardous areas.
Learning & Development: Gain hands-on knowledge of various valve types (spring-loaded, pilot-operated), test equipment, and certification standards.
Workplace Organization: Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in accordance with 5S and lean practices.
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
0–3 years of experience in industrial maintenance or valve servicing (freshers with relevant training will be considered).
Basic understanding of pressure systems, safety valves, or industrial piping preferred.
Familiarity with tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings and valve datasheets (preferred).
