Job Title: Mid-Level - Radio Communications (Radio COMM's)
Job Summary
The Mid-Level Radio Communications professional plays a critical role in the maintenance and enhancement of radio communication systems. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, as the individual will be responsible for performing advanced technical tasks such as system upgrades, troubleshooting, and maintenance of radio communication equipment. The role also includes supervising junior team members, coordinating project timelines, and ensuring that all operations comply with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of radio communication technologies and demonstrate the ability to optimize system performance while mentoring less experienced staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform installations, upgrades, and maintenance on complex radio communication systems and infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in radio communication systems, including antennas, base stations, and repeaters.
- Conduct RF signal testing, measure coverage areas, and ensure the system operates at optimal performance.
- Monitor network performance and identify potential issues before they affect service.
- Support and train junior team members, guiding them on best practices and technical troubleshooting.
- Assist with the design and implementation of network expansion or upgrades.
- Document maintenance procedures, repairs, and test results to maintain accurate records.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in all work conducted.
Skills and Knowledge Required
- In-depth knowledge of radio communication technologies (VHF, UHF, HF, satellite communication, etc.).
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills for radio systems.
- Familiarity with RF design principles and antenna system configurations.
- Ability to assess and optimize communication system performance.
- Experience with RF testing equipment, signal analyzers, and coverage mapping tools.
- Leadership skills to mentor junior staff and coordinate work tasks effectively.
Educational Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent in Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Certifications in radio communications, such as RF certification or equivalent (preferred).
