The Senior Quality Control Technician is responsible for leading final inspection activities, including advanced visual and non-destructive examination (NDE) of turbine parts prior to shipment. This role ensures that all rotating equipment components meet strict technical, preservation, and client standards. The technician also mentors junior inspectors, contributes to root cause investigations, and coordinates closely with QA, logistics, and project teams to support timely and compliant deliveries.
Perform detailed visual inspections on high-value turbine components (rotors, diaphragms, casings, couplings, seals, etc.) for surface and structural defects.
Ensure parts are free of corrosion, handling damage, or nonconforming finishes prior to crating or containerization.
Review and validate part numbers, identification marks, and serialization for traceability.
Conduct Level II non-destructive testing (PT, MT, UT) in accordance with approved procedures, ASME/API standards, and customer specifications.
Interpret inspection results and determine acceptability using applicable codes and standards.
Supervise or mentor junior technicians in setup, technique application, and reporting.
Audit export packaging for structural integrity, moisture control, desiccant application, vacuum sealing (if applicable), and international labeling requirements.
Ensure compliance with customer-specific preservation procedures (e.g., NAVSEA, MIL-STD, OEM standards).
Compile and review detailed inspection records, NDE reports, photos, and nonconformance logs for final documentation (MRBs, shipping dossiers).
Support QA engineers with final inspection sign-offs, punch list closures, and client inspection coordination when required.
Apply and enforce API 611/612, ASME Section V, ISO 9001, and project-specific QA requirements during inspections.
Collaborate with project management, procurement, logistics, and field teams to align shipment QA activities with project timelines.
