Job Title: Quality Control Manager (Mechanical Systems)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Control Manager (Mechanical Systems) to lead and manage the quality control department for mechanical systems. In this strategic leadership role, you will oversee the inspection, testing, and quality assurance processes to ensure all mechanical systems, components, and machinery meet stringent quality standards. You will manage a team of quality control technicians, drive quality initiatives, implement process improvements, and collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards. This position requires strong leadership, in-depth technical expertise, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead and manage the quality control team, providing direction, support, and training to ensure that all team members are fully equipped to meet quality standards.
    • Organize and prioritize daily quality control activities, ensuring efficient execution of inspections, testing, and reporting.
    • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify training opportunities to enhance the skills and productivity of the quality control team.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the quality control department.
  2. Quality Control Strategy Development:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive quality control strategies, ensuring that all mechanical systems and components meet quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
    • Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure that machinery and equipment are operating reliably and efficiently.
    • Oversee the creation and implementation of inspection and testing protocols for mechanical components, including dimension checks, material analysis, and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
  3. Inspection, Testing, and Compliance:

    • Oversee the inspection and testing of mechanical systems, components, and materials to verify conformance to design specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements.
    • Utilize precision measurement tools, non-destructive testing (e.g., ultrasonic, X-ray, and dye penetrant testing), and other quality control methods to evaluate mechanical systems.
    • Ensure all quality control activities are in compliance with regulatory standards, customer specifications, and internal company policies.
  4. Problem Resolution and Continuous Improvement:

    • Lead the root cause analysis (RCA) process for quality failures or non-conformances and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
    • Drive initiatives to improve product quality and reduce defects by identifying process inefficiencies and implementing quality improvements.
    • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop and implement solutions for quality issues, improve product reliability, and optimize production processes.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain comprehensive records of all quality control activities, including inspections, test results, deviations, corrective actions, and quality metrics.
    • Prepare and present detailed quality control reports for senior management, providing insights into product quality trends, process improvements, and overall quality performance.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of key performance indicators (KPIs), such as product defect rates, customer complaints, and process efficiency.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with production, engineering, and design teams to ensure quality standards are met at every stage of the production process.
    • Coordinate quality control efforts across departments to ensure alignment with production schedules and customer requirements.
    • Communicate effectively with senior management, suppliers, and other departments to ensure that quality issues are resolved promptly.
  7. Compliance with Safety Standards:

    • Ensure that all quality control processes are carried out in accordance with company safety guidelines and industry standards.
    • Promote a safe working environment by encouraging adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  8. Budget and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the quality control department’s budget, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to meet quality goals and production targets.
    • Oversee inventory control for quality control tools, testing equipment, and materials to ensure availability and minimize downtime.

  1. Quality Control Management and Strategy:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee quality control strategies for mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with all specifications and standards.
  2. Inspection and Testing Leadership:

    • Lead the inspection and testing activities for all mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet rigorous quality requirements and operational standards.
  3. Continuous Improvement and Problem Solving:

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, enhance product reliability, and optimize quality control processes.
  4. Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead the quality control team, ensuring that team members are trained, motivated, and aligned with company objectives.
  5. Compliance and Documentation:

    • Ensure all quality control activities are documented thoroughly and comply with safety regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of experience in quality control or mechanical systems, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, production processes, and quality control methodologies.
    • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools, non-destructive testing methods, and quality management systems (QMS).
    • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other relevant industry quality standards.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  3. Leadership and Management Skills:

    • Proven experience leading and developing teams, with the ability to manage performance, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative environment.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to handle complex quality challenges.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to report on quality metrics, present findings to senior management, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing certifications, or similar qualifications.
    • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or similar certifications are a plus.
    • OSHA certification or relevant safety training is beneficial.
