Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Engineer

Job Summary:

The Senior Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for leading quality assurance processes, overseeing complex inspections and testing, and ensuring that products and processes meet stringent quality and regulatory standards. This role involves troubleshooting critical quality issues, mentoring junior staff, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Senior QC Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize quality workflows and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the organization’s quality reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Inspections and Audits:

  • Oversee and perform high-level inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with stringent specifications and standards.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits, addressing non-conformities and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Validate and approve quality inspection protocols and procedures to ensure consistency and reliability.

Testing and Analysis:

  • Conduct advanced testing of products, including fatigue, durability, and reliability testing, to evaluate quality performance.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities, ensuring actionable outcomes.
  • Develop and implement advanced testing protocols for new products and materials.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Review and approve detailed quality control records, including test data, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality metrics.
  • Prepare comprehensive quality reports for management, clients, and regulatory authorities, with data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Ensure quality management system (QMS) documentation aligns with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to national and international quality standards, such as ISO 9001, ASME, ASTM, and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Lead the organization’s readiness for external certifications and compliance audits.
  • Develop strategies to improve compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Team Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level QC engineers, fostering a culture of quality excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address quality challenges and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Design and deliver quality training programs to enhance team proficiency and awareness of quality standards.

Process Optimization and Innovation:

  • Evaluate and optimize existing quality control workflows to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Research and implement advanced tools and technologies for quality assurance, such as automated inspection systems and AI-driven analysis.
  • Drive innovation by introducing methodologies like Six Sigma, lean manufacturing, and statistical process control (SPC).

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced knowledge of quality control principles, practices, and international standards (ISO 9001, ASME, ASTM, etc.).
  • Expertise in using advanced measurement tools and systems, such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), optical comparators, and hardness testers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS), statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC), and data analytics.
  • Leadership and project management skills to oversee multiple quality projects and initiatives.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced certifications in quality management (e.g., ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma Black Belt) are highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Avionics and Flight Control Systems:

    Leading advanced quality assurance strategies for avionics hardware and software integration.
  • Overseeing system performance validation under complex and diverse operational scenarios.
  • Driving compliance with international standards (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
  • Safety and Emergency Systems:

    Developing and implementing advanced testing frameworks for critical safety systems, such as fire suppression, emergency power, and evacuation systems.
  • Conducting system reliability and robustness evaluations for fail-safe operation.
  • Precision Instrumentation:

    Supervising the calibration and validation of high-precision devices for navigation, communication, and control systems.
  • Ensuring adherence to strict accuracy, reliability, and environmental performance standards.

Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance roles.
  • Proven ability to lead quality initiatives, manage audits, and oversee complex quality challenges.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced measurement and testing tools, including CMMs, optical comparators, surface roughness testers, and automated inspection systems.
  • Familiarity with quality management software and statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
