Job Title: Quality Control (QC) Engineer

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Quality Control (QC) Engineer is responsible for managing quality assurance processes, conducting advanced inspections and testing, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This role involves independently handling quality-related tasks, troubleshooting complex issues, optimizing quality workflows, and contributing to the development of quality management systems (QMS). The Mid-Level QC Engineer also mentors junior staff and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Inspections:

  • Perform advanced inspections of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Identify root causes of defects or non-conformities and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Use sophisticated measurement tools, such as coordinate measuring machines (CMM), to validate dimensions and tolerances.

Testing and Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed testing of products, including stress, durability, and performance testing, to evaluate quality and reliability.
  • Analyze test results to identify trends and patterns, providing recommendations for quality improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical and process-related issues impacting product quality.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain and oversee detailed quality control records, including test data, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality metrics.
  • Prepare comprehensive quality reports for internal and external stakeholders, including root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining quality management system (QMS) documentation to reflect current practices.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure quality processes comply with relevant standards such as ISO 9001, ASTM, or other industry-specific regulations.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, addressing non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor compliance with organizational safety protocols and environmental standards during quality activities.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Collaborate with production, design, and engineering teams to address quality issues and enhance processes.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior QC engineers and technicians.
  • Lead quality training programs to improve team awareness of quality standards and best practices.

Process Optimization:

  • Evaluate existing quality workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and advanced tools in quality inspections and testing.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and incorporate best practices into quality control operations.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • In-depth knowledge of quality control principles, practices, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in using advanced measurement tools such as CMMs, optical comparators, and hardness testers.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and standards like ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex quality issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of accuracy.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma Green Belt) is highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Avionics and Flight Control Systems:

    Ensuring integrity, functionality, and compliance of avionics hardware and software.
  • Monitoring system performance under various operational conditions.
  • Safety and Emergency Systems:

    Validating the reliability of systems such as fire suppression, oxygen delivery, and evacuation tools.
  • Conducting fail-safe and emergency scenario testing.
  • Precision Instrumentation:

    Testing and calibrating devices used for navigation, communication, and control.
  • Verifying performance against stringent precision and tolerance standards.

  1. Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance roles.
  • Proven ability to handle complex inspections, testing, and documentation independently.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced measurement and testing tools such as CMMs, calipers, micrometers, surface roughness testers, and optical comparators.
  • Familiarity with quality management software and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC tools) is an advantage.
