Job Title: QA/QC Inspector

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level QA/QC Inspector is responsible for overseeing and performing quality assurance and quality control inspections for manufacturing, construction, or production environments. This includes ensuring that products and services meet defined quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Mid-Level QA/QC Inspector will independently conduct inspections, tests, audits, and manage quality assurance processes while leading junior staff. This role involves ensuring that systems and processes are in place to deliver high-quality products and services, maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors, and contributing to continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inspection and Testing:

    • Independently conduct inspections and tests of materials, components, and finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications and industry standards.
    • Perform regular inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and final products, using various testing methods such as visual inspection, measurement tools, and functional testing.
    • Develop and implement inspection plans, including the frequency of tests and the necessary equipment or tools required.
  2. Quality Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, test results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
    • Prepare detailed inspection reports, documenting findings, deviations, and recommendations for improvement.
    • Assist in preparing comprehensive quality reports for senior management or clients, highlighting areas of improvement, corrective actions, and quality status.
    • Ensure all quality documentation is kept up-to-date and compliant with company procedures, quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001), and regulatory requirements.
  3. Non-Conformance Identification and Corrective Actions:

    • Identify, document, and report non-conformances or defects found during inspections, ensuring prompt resolution.
    • Work with the production and engineering teams to identify root causes of quality issues and propose corrective actions.
    • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), ensuring that these actions are tracked and effectively addressed.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions to ensure ongoing quality improvements.
  4. Process Audits and Quality Control:

    • Conduct process audits, internal quality audits, and supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality management systems, standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring systems are in place for continuous quality assurance and control throughout production cycles.
    • Provide feedback on potential improvements to quality control procedures and systems.
  5. Client Interaction and Technical Support:

    • Act as the main point of contact for clients regarding quality concerns, inspections, and product specifications.
    • Communicate directly with clients to discuss quality issues, provide clarification on technical specifications, and ensure product quality meets client expectations.
    • Support technical teams in troubleshooting and resolving quality-related issues, providing advice on system improvements and product enhancements.
  6. Training and Mentorship:

    • Provide guidance and training to junior QA/QC inspectors or staff on quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and safety regulations.
    • Mentor junior team members, helping them develop their inspection skills and expand their knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
    • Lead or participate in training sessions focused on quality improvement initiatives, safety, and quality standards compliance.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Participate in ongoing efforts to improve quality control processes and systems to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
    • Suggest and implement process improvements, focusing on reducing waste, increasing efficiency, and ensuring consistent product quality.
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, quality management techniques, and technologies that can improve quality assurance practices.
  8. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards during inspections and quality control processes.
    • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to established safety procedures during all inspections and testing activities.
    • Ensure that all inspections and testing processes comply with regulatory and environmental requirements.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Strong knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean, root cause analysis).
  • Proficiency in using measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and inspection tools for product quality checks.
  • Experience in quality management systems (QMS), such as ISO 9001, and the ability to apply them to daily operations.
  • Understanding of regulatory compliance and industry standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI, ASTM, etc.) and their application in quality control.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of quality in all inspection processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to report findings and interact with cross-functional teams and clients.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • Quality control or quality management certification (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma Green Belt, or other relevant certifications) is a plus.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Power Distribution Networks

  • Conducting detailed inspections and assessments of power distribution systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • SCADA and PLC Systems

  • Reviewing and verifying the quality of SCADA and PLC installations, including functional testing and integration checks.
  • Electrical Safety Standards and Codes (IEC, NEC)

  • Ensuring adherence to IEC, NEC, and other relevant codes, and identifying potential safety and compliance issues during inspections.
  • QA/QC Management and Documentation

  • Managing quality assurance activities, maintaining inspection records, and preparing comprehensive reports on findings.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in QA/QC inspection, quality control, or related fields, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or production environments.
  • Proven experience in conducting inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities.
  • Experience with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma) and hands-on knowledge of various inspection tools and techniques.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting, documentation, and communication.
  • Familiarity with QMS software and tools (e.g., SAP, Minitab, or other statistical analysis tools).
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis), and root cause analysis.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills to manage inspection tasks, reporting, and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel for site inspections, audits, and client meetings when required.
