Job Title: QA Engineer

Job Summary:

The Manager-Level QA Engineer is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and optimization of quality assurance (QA) processes and systems within the organization. This role involves leading a team of QA professionals, ensuring compliance with industry standards, driving process improvements, and aligning QA operations with organizational goals. The manager is accountable for the overall quality of products, services, or processes and ensures customer satisfaction through continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic QA Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies and frameworks to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality products or services.
  • Establish performance metrics and KPIs to monitor and evaluate QA processes.
  • Align QA objectives with organizational goals and customer requirements.

Team Management and Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers and technicians, fostering skill development and professional growth.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and provide training opportunities to enhance team expertise.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring timely and high-quality completion of QA activities.

Quality Assurance Oversight:

  • Oversee testing and validation processes to ensure compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to quality assurance policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address recurring issues.

Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management:

  • Ensure all QA activities meet industry and regulatory standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or other relevant certifications.
  • Prepare for and lead internal and external audits, maintaining thorough documentation and certifications to demonstrate compliance.
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for QA processes.

Process Improvement and Innovation:

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements in QA operations.
  • Drive the adoption of advanced QA methodologies, tools, and technologies, such as automated testing and AI-based quality monitoring.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the QA team.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, and customer support, to ensure alignment of QA activities.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the QA team and external stakeholders, such as customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate QA outcomes, risks, and performance metrics to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Project Management:

  • Plan and oversee large-scale QA projects, ensuring they are completed within scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Manage resources and risks associated with QA projects to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Report project progress and results to organizational leadership.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of QA principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Expertise in testing tools and technologies, including manual and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or other industry-specific requirements.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, CAPA, and risk management techniques.
  • Leadership and organizational skills to manage teams and QA operations effectively.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address high-level technical challenges.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced certifications in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, or CQE) are highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Automated Manufacturing Systems

  • Strategizing and managing quality assurance processes for robots, conveyors, and other automated manufacturing systems to enhance operational reliability and compliance.
  • Quality Control and Monitoring

  • Leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality control frameworks, ensuring consistent product and process quality.
  • SCADA and PLC Programming

  • Overseeing SCADA and PLC system programming, integration, and validation to ensure precise control and monitoring of industrial equipment.

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in QA operations, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale QA operations and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency in QA tools such as Selenium, JIRA, TestRail, or equivalent platforms for test management and automation.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and data visualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana) for overseeing QA initiatives.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with stakeholders and managing teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and compliance in all QA activities.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for audits, training, or multi-site QA operations.
