Job Title: Pump Technician

Job Summary:

The Fresher Pump Technician will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of pump systems used in various industrial, commercial, or manufacturing applications. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in working with different types of pumps, including centrifugal, positive displacement, and submersible pumps. The Pump Technician will work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure that pumps and associated systems are installed, maintained, and serviced efficiently, safely, and in accordance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pump Installation Assistance:

    • Assist in the installation of new pumps, including positioning, aligning, and connecting pumps to pipes, motors, and power systems.
    • Support senior technicians in assembling and securing pumps and their components according to design specifications and safety standards.
    • Help with testing and adjusting pumps during installation to ensure that they operate at optimal efficiency.
  2. Routine Maintenance and Inspections:

    • Help perform scheduled maintenance and inspections of pump systems to ensure they are operating effectively and efficiently.
    • Assist in replacing or repairing worn-out parts, including seals, gaskets, bearings, and motor components.
    • Conduct basic troubleshooting of pumps to identify potential issues such as leaks, noise, or performance drop, and assist in making necessary repairs.
  3. Pump Repairs and Troubleshooting:

    • Assist in diagnosing and repairing minor mechanical and electrical issues related to pump systems, under the supervision of senior technicians.
    • Support in the disassembly and reassembly of pumps to replace faulty components or to perform cleaning and lubrication tasks.
    • Learn to use diagnostic tools such as pressure gauges, voltmeters, and flow meters to assess the performance of pumps.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety protocols when working with pumps, ensuring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
    • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment by following company safety procedures and reporting any safety hazards.
    • Ensure all work complies with local safety standards, regulations, and industry codes.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in maintaining detailed records of pump installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
    • Report on the status of pump systems, noting any issues encountered during maintenance or installation work.
    • Support in preparing reports on pump performance and any work completed, providing accurate information for future reference or audits.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge related to pump systems, including learning about different types of pumps, their applications, and common issues.
    • Participate in training sessions and workshops to improve knowledge of pump system operations, maintenance techniques, and troubleshooting.
    • Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to gain hands-on experience and practical skills in pump system repair and maintenance.
  7. Collaboration and Team Support:

    • Work effectively with senior technicians, engineers, and other team members to complete pump installation and maintenance tasks.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, safety concerns, and any issues encountered during pump work.
    • Provide support to colleagues on tasks as needed, contributing to the overall success of pump-related projects.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and an interest in learning about pumps and their operation.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in mechanical fitting, such as wrenches, drills, and pipe benders.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to follow safety procedures when working with pumps and related systems.
  • Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with senior technicians and report on work progress.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly while performing hands-on tasks.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
  • Technical certifications or coursework in mechanical systems, electrical systems, or industrial maintenance is a plus, but not required.

Experience:

  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Any internships, academic projects, or hands-on experience with mechanical systems or pumps is beneficial but not mandatory.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, and pipe-cutting tools.
  • Exposure to basic pump diagnostic tools, such as pressure gauges, voltmeters, and flow meters, is beneficial but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop hands-on skills in pump installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from senior technicians and engineers.
  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and positioning pump components and working in industrial or outdoor settings.
  • Ability to work under supervision and complete tasks as directed with accuracy and attention to detail.
