Job Description: Pump Skid Engineer

Job Summary:

The Fresher Pump Skid Engineer will support the design, installation, and maintenance of pump skid systems. This entry-level role is ideal for fresh graduates looking to develop their technical skills in pump system design and integration. The Pump Skid Engineer will work closely with senior engineers and other team members to assist in the design of pump skids, select components, assist in assembly, and support testing to ensure the systems meet operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design Support:

    • Assist senior engineers in the design of pump skid systems, including pump selection, layout design, and integration of related components (e.g., motors, valves, piping).
    • Prepare basic design layouts and technical drawings under the guidance of senior engineers using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
    • Assist in the specification of system components, ensuring they are compatible with project requirements.
  2. Component Selection:

    • Assist in the selection and specification of components such as pumps, valves, motors, piping, and other accessories based on project specifications and system requirements.
    • Support in evaluating and choosing the appropriate materials for pump skids, ensuring reliability and performance.
  3. Assembly and Installation:

    • Assist in the assembly of pump skid systems by helping in the installation of pumps, motors, piping, and valves according to design specifications.
    • Support the installation of electrical and mechanical components of pump skid systems, ensuring correct alignment and integration with other systems.
  4. Testing and Troubleshooting:

    • Help in performing testing and troubleshooting during the commissioning phase of pump skids, ensuring that the systems operate efficiently and meet project specifications.
    • Assist senior engineers in identifying and resolving any issues that arise during system testing or installation.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Support in preparing technical documentation such as system drawings, installation instructions, and testing reports.
    • Maintain records of design changes, modifications, and troubleshooting activities to ensure that all modifications are documented.
    • Assist in preparing and organizing documentation for internal and client review, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
  6. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with other engineers, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of pump skid systems into the overall project.
    • Communicate effectively with the team to understand project requirements, clarify design elements, and address challenges.
  7. Safety and Quality Assurance:

    • Assist in ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and quality control procedures.
    • Participate in safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate any potential hazards related to pump skid systems.
  8. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop your technical skills and understanding of pump skid systems, including mechanical, electrical, and fluid dynamics principles.
    • Participate in training programs, workshops, and technical seminars to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of pump systems, mechanical design, and fluid mechanics.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for design and drawing creation.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems and how they integrate within pump skid systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical specifications.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to work within a team and interact with project stakeholders.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, systems, and tools.
  • Basic knowledge of safety standards and practices related to mechanical and electrical work.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant coursework in fluid dynamics, pump systems, mechanical design, or control systems is a plus.

Experience:

  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Internships, academic projects, or hands-on experience with pump systems or mechanical systems is beneficial but not mandatory.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Familiarity with CAD tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Exposure to mechanical testing equipment, such as pressure gauges, flow meters, and pumps, is beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of pump selection and sizing is advantageous but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong enthusiasm for learning and developing technical skills in pump skid systems and mechanical design.
  • Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
  • A proactive approach to learning and contributing to project success.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and work in industrial or manufacturing environments.
