The Process Equipment Installation Supervisor leads the planning, coordination, and execution of installing mechanical and sanitary process equipment in food and beverage manufacturing facilities. This role manages installation crews and contractors, ensures compliance with hygienic standards, and collaborates with engineering and maintenance teams to deliver equipment installations on schedule and within quality standards.
Oversee the installation of process equipment including tanks, pumps, valves, piping, mixers, fillers, and conveyors.
Manage installation crews and subcontractors, providing clear direction and ensuring safe, efficient work practices.
Review and interpret equipment layout drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical specifications to ensure accurate installation.
Coordinate installation schedules with production, maintenance, and quality departments to minimize downtime.
Ensure all installation work complies with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA/USDA regulations, and plant safety protocols.
Perform quality inspections and verify that installed equipment meets design and sanitary requirements.
Maintain detailed installation documentation, including daily reports, material logs, punch lists, and change orders.
Support equipment commissioning and startup activities in collaboration with engineering and quality teams.
Identify and resolve installation challenges, escalating critical issues as needed.
Train and mentor junior installation personnel on hygienic installation techniques and safety standards.
Education:
Associate degree or technical diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
Relevant certifications (OSHA, forklift operation, rigging) are beneficial.
Experience:
3–5 years’ experience in mechanical or process equipment installation, preferably in food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical industries.
Proven track record supervising installation teams and managing multi-discipline projects.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of sanitary mechanical systems, piping, utility connections, and equipment rigging.
Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, layout drawings, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with 3-A Sanitary Standards and regulatory requirements impacting equipment installation.
Experience with quality inspection and commissioning support.
