Job Title: Process Control Technician

Job Summary:

The Junior Process Control Technician is responsible for assisting in the setup, operation, and maintenance of process control systems in manufacturing environments. This entry-level role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with control systems, instrumentation, and automation technologies. The Junior Process Control Technician will work under the supervision of senior technicians and engineers, providing support in ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position allows for skill development in troubleshooting, system calibration, and optimizing automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process Control System Support:

    • Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of process control systems, including PLCs, sensors, actuators, and control valves.
    • Help in monitoring the operation of automated systems and ensure that all systems are functioning according to specifications.
    • Support the configuration of control systems for machinery, conveyors, and other production equipment under the guidance of senior engineers.
  2. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

    • Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting process control system issues, diagnosing faults, and implementing minor corrective actions.
    • Support system diagnostics, identifying common faults, and escalating complex problems to senior engineers for resolution.
    • Help ensure that all issues are documented and communicate effectively with the team to ensure efficient problem-solving.
  3. Routine Maintenance and Calibration:

    • Perform routine inspections and assist in the calibration of instruments and equipment in automated control systems.
    • Ensure that all instruments and control systems are calibrated according to factory standards and quality requirements.
    • Support preventive maintenance schedules to ensure systems operate without interruption and prevent equipment failures.
  4. Data Collection and Reporting:

    • Assist in collecting data from PLC-controlled systems, sensors, and equipment to monitor process performance.
    • Help track performance metrics and provide basic reports on system status, equipment condition, and process efficiency.
    • Provide assistance in documenting system configurations, changes made to control systems, and any maintenance or troubleshooting activities performed.
  5. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work closely with senior technicians, engineers, and production teams to ensure seamless operation of automated systems.
    • Assist the production team in understanding and using process control systems efficiently.
    • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on ongoing tasks and issues encountered in process control systems.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Develop knowledge of PLC programming, industrial automation systems, and process control technologies through hands-on experience.
    • Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning to build skills in troubleshooting, system configuration, and optimization.
    • Stay updated on new technologies and industry best practices related to process control and automation systems.

  • Support for Process Control Systems: Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of process control systems used in manufacturing.
  • Troubleshooting and Calibration: Help with troubleshooting and routine calibration of PLCs, instrumentation, and other automation equipment.
  • Data Collection and Monitoring: Gather and monitor system data to ensure systems are performing according to production needs.
  • Learning and Skill Development: Build hands-on experience in process control, automation systems, and instrumentation.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of process control systems, instrumentation, and industrial automation concepts.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, sensors, actuators, and control devices used in manufacturing environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose basic faults and provide assistance in system repairs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, collaborating with senior technicians and engineers.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop practical skills in process control systems and automation technologies.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Any relevant coursework or basic certifications in PLC programming, process control, or industrial automation is a plus.

Experience:

  • No prior work experience required; internships, academic projects, or hands-on training related to process control or automation are beneficial.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments and process control systems through academic coursework or personal projects is advantageous.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Exposure to PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, sensors, and other automation equipment.
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes) used for diagnostics in automated systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the field of process control and industrial automation.
  • Ability to work under the supervision of senior engineers and follow safety and quality standards.
