Job Title: Process Control Specialist (Power Plants)
Job Summary:
The Fresher Process Control Specialist is responsible for supporting the operation, testing, and maintenance of control systems in power generation facilities. This role involves assisting senior engineers in ensuring the proper functionality of systems such as turbines, generators, boilers, SCADA, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and safety mechanisms. The specialist focuses on gaining foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in process control systems for thermal and nuclear power plants.
Key Responsibilities:
System Operation and Testing:
- Assist in the operation and monitoring of control systems, including turbines, generators, and boilers.
- Support the configuration, testing, and calibration of SCADA and DCS platforms under supervision.
- Participate in the commissioning of new control systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Assist in diagnosing basic system issues and identifying potential improvements.
- Perform routine inspections and testing of control systems to ensure operational reliability.
- Document and report system anomalies to senior engineers for further analysis and resolution.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to regulatory standards during all control system activities.
- Support the validation and testing of safety and emergency shutdown systems to ensure operational readiness.
- Participate in safety drills and training sessions to build a foundational understanding of emergency procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of system operations, including calibration settings and test results.
- Assist in preparing basic technical reports on control system performance for internal review.
- Ensure documentation aligns with organizational and industry standards.
Learning and Development:
- Attend training programs to gain knowledge of power generation control systems, including SCADA and DCS.
- Build familiarity with thermal and nuclear plant operations and their associated control systems.
- Develop a foundational understanding of industry standards, including IEC, ISA, and safety protocols.
Key Focus Areas:
- Power Generation Control Systems: Assist in operating and monitoring control systems for turbines, generators, and boilers.
- SCADA and Distributed Control Systems (DCS): Support the configuration and troubleshooting of SCADA and DCS platforms.
- Thermal and Nuclear Plant Control Systems: Learn and assist in maintaining control systems specific to thermal and nuclear power plants.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Participate in testing and validating the functionality of safety-critical systems.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of process control systems and their application in power generation.
- Familiarity with SCADA and DCS platforms is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in troubleshooting control systems.
- Awareness of safety regulations and protocols for industrial environments.
- Proficiency in basic tools like multimeters and basic software for documentation.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic certification or training in SCADA/DCS or process control systems is an advantage.
Experience:
- No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to process control or power generation systems are beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Familiarity with basic diagnostic tools such as multimeters, signal generators, and loop calibrators.
- Exposure to software platforms like Siemens TIA Portal, Honeywell Experion, or ABB DCS is a plus.
