Job Title: Process Automation and Control Engineer
Job Summary:
The Process Automation and Control Engineer (Fresher) will assist in the design, implementation, and optimization of automated systems used in industrial processes. This entry-level role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in the automation of manufacturing and control systems such as SCADA, PLCs, sensors, and process control systems. The engineer will support senior engineers in troubleshooting, programming, maintaining, and improving process automation systems to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Automation and Control Systems:
- Assist in the design and implementation of automated systems for controlling industrial processes, including the integration of PLCs, SCADA systems, and sensors.
- Work under the guidance of senior engineers to configure, install, and integrate control systems into existing processes.
- Help with programming and testing PLCs, ensuring that control logic meets the needs of the manufacturing or processing environment.
System Monitoring and Data Collection:
- Assist in the real-time monitoring of automated systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Support the collection of operational data from sensors, SCADA systems, and PLCs to evaluate system efficiency and troubleshoot issues.
- Help generate reports based on system data to track performance, identify inefficiencies, and suggest improvements.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Assist in the routine maintenance of automation systems, ensuring all components (e.g., PLCs, sensors, control systems) are functioning correctly.
- Support troubleshooting efforts to identify and resolve issues with automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient operation.
- Work with senior engineers to implement corrective and preventive actions for system improvements.
Process Optimization:
- Help analyze and identify opportunities for process optimization in automated control systems, aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing operational costs.
- Assist in the configuration of control systems to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Assist in ensuring that all process automation systems comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Help maintain accurate and detailed documentation of system configurations, updates, and changes for audit and regulatory purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to system performance, downtime, and maintenance activities.
Learning and Development:
- Continuously learn and develop technical skills related to process automation, control systems, and industrial instrumentation.
- Participate in on-the-job training, workshops, and seminars to build knowledge of PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial process control techniques.
- Stay updated on new technologies and advancements in the field of process automation and control systems.
Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with senior engineers, operators, and other teams to ensure the smooth operation of automation systems and to address technical challenges.
- Provide technical support and assistance to operators and maintenance teams regarding automation systems, including troubleshooting and best practices.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss system performance, project progress, and process improvements.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Basic understanding of process automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial control equipment.
- Familiarity with control logic programming (e.g., ladder logic) and process control concepts.
- Willingness to learn and develop expertise in programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing process automation systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to monitor and document system performance accurately.
- Good problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze system issues and support troubleshooting efforts.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic coursework or training in PLC programming, SCADA systems, or industrial automation is a plus.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required, but internships or academic projects related to process automation, control systems, or industrial instrumentation are advantageous.
- Exposure to control systems or process automation through academic projects or internships is beneficial.
Tools and Technologies:
- Basic understanding of PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition) and industrial sensors or instrumentation is advantageous.
- Exposure to process monitoring and data logging tools for performance analysis is a plus.
