The Pressure Vessel Fabrication Manager oversees all aspects of pressure vessel fabrication in accordance with ASME Section VIII standards, primarily for water and wastewater treatment applications. This role manages shop operations, ensures code compliance, and drives safety, quality, and efficiency across the full lifecycle of vessel production—from material prep and welding to inspection and final delivery.
Manage day-to-day fabrication of ASME Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessels, tanks, and pressure-retaining components.
Develop and implement production plans and work schedules for welding, forming, fit-up, and NDT.
Supervise vessel fabrication teams including welders, fitters, QA/QC technicians, and helpers.
Ensure all fabrication processes adhere to ASME Section VIII, Section IX, and applicable ANSI/API codes.
Maintain proper use and documentation of WPS/PQRs, welder qualifications, and traveler packages.
Coordinate NDT (RT, UT, PT, VT), hydrotesting, and final inspections with QA and third-party inspectors.
Oversee U-Stamp compliance and liaise with Authorized Inspectors (AI) as required.
Track fabrication progress, material consumption, and workforce utilization to meet schedule and budget.
Implement corrective actions for deviations in weld quality, rework, or safety concerns.
Maintain shop discipline and enforce best practices in fabrication, layout, welding, and rigging.
Enforce a strong safety culture aligned with OSHA and company standards.
Conduct toolbox talks and coordinate safety audits within the fabrication area.
Mentor junior staff and provide training on code compliance, welding techniques, and inspection readiness.
Work with engineering to review vessel drawings, nozzle orientation, support design, and lifting strategies.
Coordinate with project managers and procurement to align fabrication timelines with project needs.
Participate in design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews for new pressure vessel builds.
