Job Title: Pressure Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

The Pressure Calibration Engineer Manager is responsible for leading the calibration and maintenance of pressure measurement systems and equipment used in manufacturing processes. This role involves overseeing the calibration of pressure sensors, transmitters, gauges, and other pressure-related equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The Pressure Calibration Engineer Manager will lead a team of calibration engineers, develop calibration procedures, and ensure that all equipment meets operational and regulatory requirements. This position also involves driving continuous improvement in calibration practices, ensuring system performance, and enhancing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead and manage a team of pressure calibration engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
    • Set team goals and objectives, conduct performance evaluations, and support career development through training and mentorship.
    • Assign tasks effectively, manage workload distribution, and ensure that the calibration team meets all project deadlines and quality standards.
  2. Pressure Calibration Systems and Process Management:

    • Oversee the calibration of pressure measurement devices, including gauges, transmitters, and sensors, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, ANSI).
    • Develop and implement calibration procedures and protocols for pressure-related equipment used in manufacturing, ensuring precision and reliability.
    • Manage the calibration schedule, ensuring that all pressure instruments are calibrated regularly and in accordance with operational requirements.
    • Ensure that the calibration process minimizes downtime while maintaining the accuracy and reliability of pressure measurement systems.
  3. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

    • Ensure all calibration activities are conducted in compliance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
    • Ensure that calibration certificates and records are maintained, and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards such as ASTM, IEC, or ISO.
    • Lead internal audits and participate in external audits to ensure calibration processes meet required specifications and regulatory requirements.
  4. Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:

    • Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to pressure measurement systems, ensuring quick resolution and minimal production downtime.
    • Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to address calibration-related issues affecting equipment performance and operational efficiency.
    • Develop and implement corrective actions and preventive measures for recurring calibration issues to improve system accuracy and reliability.
  5. Continuous Improvement and Process Optimization:

    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize calibration processes, reduce turnaround times, and improve system accuracy.
    • Lead efforts to identify and implement new technologies, tools, or practices to improve calibration procedures and operational efficiency.
    • Promote the use of best practices and methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, to streamline calibration processes and reduce costs.
  6. Data Management and Reporting:

    • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of calibration data, ensuring all results are documented and traceable.
    • Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management regarding calibration performance, compliance, and any corrective actions taken.
    • Analyze trends in calibration data to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for equipment upgrades or process modifications.
  7. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure calibration processes align with operational goals and product specifications.
    • Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers of pressure instruments to ensure calibration standards meet the required specifications and performance standards.
    • Support the integration of new pressure measurement systems or upgrades into existing processes, ensuring smooth transitions and calibration standards are met.
  8. Training and Development:

    • Develop training materials and programs to improve the knowledge and skillset of the calibration team and other relevant staff.
    • Ensure that all engineers and technicians are properly trained in calibration procedures, troubleshooting, and the use of calibration equipment.
    • Stay updated with the latest developments in pressure measurement technology, calibration methods, and industry best practices.
  9. Budget and Resource Management:

    • Manage the calibration department budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and costs are kept under control.
    • Oversee procurement of calibration equipment, tools, and software required for calibration processes.
    • Ensure that calibration resources (tools, equipment, and software) are maintained and available when needed.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Expertise in pressure calibration techniques and methodologies for various pressure instruments, including sensors, transmitters, and gauges.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements related to pressure calibration (e.g., ISO, ASTM, IEC).
  • Experience with calibration tools, software, and instruments used in the calibration of pressure measurement systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to address complex calibration-related issues in pressure measurement systems.
  • Experience in managing calibration processes in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor engineers and technicians.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance monitoring, including the use of calibration software and tracking systems.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in pressure calibration or related fields is highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas :

  • Water Purification and Treatment Systems Control

  • Managing calibration processes for pressure instruments in water purification and treatment systems to ensure accurate control and efficiency.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensuring all pressure calibration activities adhere to environmental regulations and standards related to water systems.
  • Monitoring of Water Quality (pH, Chlorine Levels, etc.)

  • Overseeing the calibration of instruments used to monitor water quality parameters like pressure, pH, and chlorine levels for compliance and safety.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in pressure calibration or instrumentation, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Proven experience managing calibration teams, developing calibration procedures, and overseeing the successful execution of calibration activities.
  • Experience with calibration management software, calibration tools, and pressure measurement equipment is essential.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Proficiency with calibration tools, such as dead weight testers, pressure calibrators, and digital manometers.
  • Familiarity with calibration management software and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW).
  • Experience with industrial automation systems, PLCs, and control systems is a plus.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage teams and drive performance.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to report on performance, collaborate with other departments, and provide technical guidance.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, audits, or training.
