Job Title: Power Plant Operator

Job Summary:

We are looking for a dedicated Power Plant Operator – Junior Level to join our team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day operations of the power plant, assisting in the operation and monitoring of plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment. You will work closely with senior operators to gain hands-on experience and training to develop your technical expertise. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a foundational understanding of power plant systems, eager to grow in the energy industry and learn about plant operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in Power Plant Operations:

    • Operate and monitor plant equipment under supervision, including boilers, turbines, generators, and cooling systems, ensuring they function safely and efficiently.
    • Learn to control and adjust parameters such as pressure, temperature, and flow rates to maintain plant operations at optimal levels.
    • Assist in starting, stopping, and maintaining plant equipment, ensuring smooth transitions during operational shifts.
  2. Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

    • Observe gauges, control panels, and alarms to monitor plant system performance and detect potential issues.
    • Assist senior operators in troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, identifying issues early to minimize downtime.
    • Support in making minor repairs and adjustments to equipment under supervision, following standard operating procedures.
  3. Preventive Maintenance:

    • Assist in routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities for plant equipment.
    • Perform basic cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs on mechanical and electrical components to ensure the reliable operation of the plant.
    • Follow maintenance schedules, ensuring maintenance tasks are completed on time to minimize disruptions to plant operations.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Adhere to safety procedures and operational guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
    • Participate in safety drills, training, and continuous learning to stay updated on plant safety protocols.
    • Report safety hazards or irregularities to senior operators and management for immediate resolution.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate logs of plant operations, including equipment performance, maintenance activities, and any system faults or incidents.
    • Assist in compiling daily, weekly, or monthly reports on plant operations, identifying any performance issues and recommending improvements.
    • Record operational data and keep track of maintenance and repair history for plant equipment.
  6. Learning and Skill Development:

    • Participate in on-the-job training sessions and technical workshops to learn about the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of plant equipment.
    • Gain hands-on experience working with experienced operators, progressively taking on more responsibility as knowledge grows.
    • Learn to read technical diagrams, understand control systems, and familiarize yourself with power plant safety procedures.

    • Assist with the operation and monitoring of power plant systems, ensuring equipment runs efficiently and safely.
  2. Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance:

    • Support troubleshooting and routine maintenance efforts, learning best practices for minimizing downtime and maximizing operational reliability.
  3. Safety and Compliance:

    • Focus on understanding and adhering to safety procedures, ensuring compliance with operational standards and regulations.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in maintaining operational records and reports, ensuring accurate documentation for performance tracking and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
    • Basic understanding of power plant operations, electrical systems, or mechanical equipment is a plus.
  2. Experience:

    • 1-2 years prior professional experience required; this is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates or individuals with limited experience in power plant operations.
    • Any hands-on experience or academic projects related to power generation, machinery, or electrical systems is beneficial.
  3. Skills:

    • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in a power plant environment.
    • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to observe equipment performance and identify potential issues.
    • Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
    • Good communication skills, able to report data and work effectively with senior operators and other team members.
    • Willingness to learn, adapt, and develop new technical skills in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Any safety-related certifications such as OSHA, First Aid, or CPR are a plus.
    • Certifications in power plant operations, mechanical, or electrical systems are advantageous but not required.
