The Mid-Level Piping Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, detailing, and overseeing the fabrication of custom piping spools and assemblies for water treatment projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in piping systems, coordination with fabrication shops, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and project specifications. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, high-quality piping solutions.
Develop detailed piping layouts, isometric drawings, and spool drawings based on project specifications and engineering standards.
Prepare and review material take-offs (MTOs), bills of materials (BOMs), and ensure correct specification of pipes, fittings, valves, and accessories.
Ensure designs comply with AWWA, ASME B31.3, ANSI, and project codes.
Coordinate with fabrication shops and vendors to clarify design intent, resolve technical issues, and oversee manufacturing processes.
Review shop drawings and fabrication progress reports; participate in quality assurance inspections.
Address fabrication challenges proactively to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
Work closely with project managers, field engineers, and procurement teams to support project execution and timely delivery of piping assemblies.
Assist in troubleshooting installation issues and provide technical support during field installation or commissioning.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date design documentation, including revisions and quality records.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout design and fabrication stages.
Mentor junior engineers and drafters, providing technical guidance and support.
Stay current with industry trends, codes, and technologies related to piping systems and water treatment.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
Experience:
4–7 years of experience in piping design and fabrication, preferably in water treatment, industrial, or process plant environments
Skills:
Proficient with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, PDMS, or similar) for piping design and isometrics
Strong understanding of piping codes (AWWA, ASME B31.3, ANSI) and industry standards
Experience coordinating with fabrication shops and quality control teams
Good problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills
Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to team development
