The Junior Piping Systems Engineer supports the design, detailing, and fabrication of custom piping spools and assemblies used in water treatment facilities. This entry-level role involves assisting with piping layouts, material specifications, and coordination with fabrication shops to ensure quality and timely delivery of piping components. The role requires eagerness to learn industry standards and strong teamwork skills.
Assist in preparing detailed piping layouts, isometrics, and spool drawings for custom pipe assemblies following project specifications.
Support the development of material take-offs (MTOs) and ensure correct pipe, fittings, and valve selection per engineering standards.
Review design documents under supervision to verify compliance with AWWA, ASME, ANSI, and project codes.
Coordinate with fabrication shops and vendors to clarify design details and ensure accurate spool manufacturing.
Assist in tracking fabrication progress, quality inspections, and addressing shop queries.
Support the resolution of fabrication issues by working closely with engineering and quality teams.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation, revision control, and fabrication records.
Participate in quality reviews and support inspection activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Work closely with senior engineers to develop knowledge of piping system design, fabrication processes, and relevant codes.
Attend training sessions on piping engineering software, standards, and water treatment systems.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
Alternatively, diploma in Mechanical or Piping Engineering
Experience:
0–2 years experience or internships/co-ops related to piping design or fabrication, preferably in water treatment or industrial sectors
Skills:
Basic knowledge of piping design principles and standards (AWWA, ASME B31.3, ANSI)
Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SolidWorks Piping modules
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic project environment
