The Junior Piping Fabrication Supervisor is an entry-level leadership role supporting the fabrication, assembly, and installation of piping systems in water treatment facilities. Working under the guidance of senior supervisors or project engineers, this position ensures that piping work complies with AWWA, ASME, and ANSI standards. The role includes daily supervision of shop and field activities, quality checks, and coordination with fabrication teams to maintain timelines, safety, and workmanship quality in municipal and industrial water treatment projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in supervising the fabrication and installation of piping systems (carbon steel, stainless steel, HDPE, PVC, ductile iron) in compliance with project specs and relevant codes.
Support layout review and spool tracking for fabricated piping assemblies.
Coordinate with welders, fitters, and helpers to ensure adherence to drawings and welding procedures.
Conduct visual inspections and verify dimensional accuracy of pipe assemblies.
Ensure safe work practices and proper use of PPE and rigging in shop and field environments.
Assist in reviewing and interpreting isometric drawings, P&IDs, and material take-offs.
Monitor material availability and support proper handling, storage, and tracking of piping components.
Report progress, issues, and deviations to senior supervisors and project engineers.
Maintain basic documentation including daily work reports, QA checklists, and fabrication logs.

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or technical certificate in pipefitting, welding, or mechanical trades required
Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus
Certifications:
OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
Basic knowledge of ASME/AWWA standards and welding processes
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in pipe fabrication or mechanical construction (water treatment or utility industry preferred)
Exposure to fabrication drawings, spool sheets, and QA procedures
Technical Skills:
Understanding of pipe materials, flanges, fittings, valves, and gaskets used in water systems
Familiarity with welding techniques (SMAW, TIG, MIG), threading, grooving, and joining methods
Ability to read basic isometric and P&ID drawings
Proficient in using measuring tools, levels, and pipe alignment tools
