Job Title: Pipeline Installation Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Pipeline Installation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the installation, maintenance, and testing of pipeline systems in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, water distribution, and industrial applications. As a senior technician, you will be responsible for leading a team of technicians, ensuring the installation is done safely, efficiently, and according to regulatory standards. You will also be responsible for ensuring all systems are properly tested and performing quality assurance checks to ensure the integrity of the pipeline.
Key Responsibilities:
Pipeline Installation and Supervision:
- Lead and supervise the installation of pipelines, ensuring that the installation is performed according to design specifications and regulatory standards.
- Oversee the assembly and alignment of pipeline systems, including fittings, valves, flanges, and other components.
- Direct the team in the safe and efficient operation of equipment used in pipeline installation, including excavation tools, welding machines, and other installation tools.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Manage and mentor a team of junior technicians, guiding them through technical processes and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Provide hands-on training and support to team members, ensuring they have the necessary skills to perform tasks efficiently and safely.
- Conduct team meetings to review project status, safety concerns, and task assignments.
Testing and Quality Control:
- Lead the testing of installed pipelines to ensure they meet pressure and leak detection requirements.
- Perform and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) such as x-ray, ultrasonic, and hydrostatic testing to verify pipeline integrity.
- Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks to ensure that installations meet all technical and safety specifications.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all pipeline installation activities are carried out in accordance with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and company policies.
- Lead and enforce safety protocols on the job site, ensuring that all team members follow proper safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify potential hazards and address them proactively to ensure a safe working environment for the team.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of installation activities, inspections, test results, and any issues encountered during pipeline installation.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to senior management, outlining project status, challenges, and safety compliance.
- Document any changes made during installation or testing, ensuring all modifications are recorded for future reference.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Lead troubleshooting efforts when installation issues arise, quickly diagnosing problems and identifying solutions to keep projects on track.
- Ensure that any mechanical, electrical, or structural issues with the pipeline are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement solutions to complex installation challenges.
Project Coordination:
- Coordinate with other teams, including engineers, contractors, and construction workers, to ensure smooth project execution and adherence to timelines.
- Ensure that all materials, tools, and equipment required for the installation are available and in good working condition.
- Assist with scheduling and resource management to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Continuous Improvement and Efficiency:
- Continuously evaluate and improve the pipeline installation process, looking for opportunities to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, tools, and technologies related to pipeline installation and maintenance.
- Encourage team members to adopt innovative solutions and best practices that improve the installation process.

- Lead the implementation of safety standards on-site, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Oversee the smooth execution of pipeline installation projects, ensuring resources are managed efficiently and timelines are adhered to.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
- Focus on maintaining the quality of work and continuously improving the installation processes for future projects.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree or certification in pipeline technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications in pipeline installation, welding, safety (e.g., OSHA), or project management are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in pipeline installation, construction, or maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Extensive experience with pipeline testing, installation techniques, and systems used in oil and gas, water distribution, or other industrial sectors.
- Hands-on experience with NDT (non-destructive testing), welding, and other inspection techniques used in pipeline installations.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to guide and mentor a team of technicians.
- In-depth knowledge of pipeline systems, installation methods, and testing procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot installation challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, senior management, and other departments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Welding certifications, NDT certifications (e.g., ASNT Level I or II), or similar credentials.
- First Aid, CPR, or other safety-related certifications.
- Project management or supervisory certifications are a plus.
