The Mid-Level Pipefitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems in water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role requires a solid understanding of industrial pipefitting practices, including the ability to interpret blueprints and isometric drawings, work with a variety of piping materials, and follow standards such as AWWA, ASME, and ANSI. The pipefitter will work both independently and as part of a team on field and shop-based projects.
Measure, cut, thread, and assemble various types of pipe (e.g., ductile iron, stainless steel, PVC, HDPE) for water treatment systems.
Install valves, supports, and brackets to specification using hand and power tools.
Ensure proper pipe alignment, supports, and sealing techniques during system installation.
Conduct inspections, identify mechanical issues in piping systems, and assist in repairs or component replacements.
Perform system pressure tests and flushing procedures.
Support scheduled shutdowns and emergency repairs.
Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs.
Follow AWWA, ASME B31.3, and plant-specific piping codes and practices.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Adhere to all safety procedures, including use of PPE, confined space entry, hot work, and lockout/tagout.
Participate in safety briefings and tool-box talks.
Collaborate with welders, engineers, and other trades on coordinated installations.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical training or completion of pipefitting apprenticeship preferred
Certifications (Preferred):
OSHA 10/30, confined space, hot work permit
AWWA or ASME certification or equivalent experience
Experience:
3–6 years of industrial pipefitting experience in water treatment or similar mechanical environments
Skills:
Proficiency in using pipefitting tools and equipment
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
Good communication, teamwork, and safety record
