Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Panel Technician (Mid-Level) is responsible for independently executing the assembly, wiring, and field installation of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and MCC (Motor Control Center) panels. The role includes interpreting electrical drawings, performing functional tests, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring safe, high-quality installations in compliance with project specifications and standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and wire PLC and MCC panels as per wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and layout schematics.

  • Install and connect electrical components such as circuit breakers, contactors, relays, I/O modules, power supplies, and communication interfaces.

  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, point-to-point, and functionality testing on completed panels.

  • Support panel integration with field devices including sensors, actuators, motors, and PLC-based automation systems.

  • Execute field panel installation including cable glanding, termination, and interconnection with power and signal systems.

  • Troubleshoot electrical faults related to wiring, terminal issues, and control logic misalignments.

  • Ensure panels are built to code (IEC/NEMA) and meet customer and QA/QC requirements.

  • Coordinate with engineers, electricians, and instrumentation teams during commissioning and SAT.

  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work documentation in accordance with project standards.

  • Provide guidance to junior technicians or trainees in basic wiring and assembly techniques.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or ITI in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electronics Engineering

  • 4–7 years of experience in electrical panel assembly, wiring, and installation (PLC and MCC focused)

  • Proficient in interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal schedules, and cable lists

  • Familiar with industrial PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider) and MCC components

  • Knowledge of basic control logic, relay logic, and industrial safety standards


Skills & Competencies:

  • Skilled in panel layout, wiring, testing, and fault rectification

  • Good documentation and reporting abilities

  • Familiar with use of testing tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, loop testers)

  • Strong coordination with engineering and field installation teams

  • Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and process-driven
