The Mid-Level Packaging and Labeling Automation Engineer will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated packaging lines and labeling systems. The role requires hands-on experience in machine automation, strong troubleshooting capabilities, and a sound understanding of GMP and serialization requirements. This position supports multiple projects, coordinates with cross-functional teams, and contributes to the optimization of high-speed packaging systems.
Lead and execute installation, setup, and commissioning of packaging and labeling machines across primary and secondary packaging lines.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and PLC control-related issues in real-time.
Manage line changeovers, machine optimization, sensor calibration, and integration with vision or track & trace systems.
Maintain and improve machine uptime, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Configure and monitor label printers, serial number printing devices, and vision-based inspection systems.
Collaborate with validation and QA teams during equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and regulatory audits.
Assist in design reviews, FAT/SAT testing, and troubleshooting during project transitions.
Document all activities through change controls, deviation logs, and preventive maintenance records.
Advanced Packaging Line Automation
Equipment experience with:
Blister, bottle, pouch, strip, vial, and carton packing machines
High-speed labelers, shrink sleeve applicators, tamper-evident systems
Case packers and palletizers
Control Systems & Automation Integration
Intermediate proficiency with:
PLC programming/troubleshooting (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron)
HMI/SCADA interfaces
Servo systems, VFDs, and sensor arrays
Labeling, Serialization & Vision Inspection
Experience with:
Track & Trace systems (Level 1 & 2 – printer & vision integration)
OCR/OCV, barcode/QR code readers, and rejection systems
Print & apply machines, Domino/Wolke coders
Regulatory & Compliance Alignment
Ensure systems comply with:
GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity
Audit readiness (QA validation, SOPs, calibration, documentation)
Maintenance, Reliability & Documentation
Perform:
Breakdown analysis and CAPA implementation
Preventive maintenance and root cause diagnostics
Machine logs, change part documentation, and safety audits
Project Execution & Cross-functional Collaboration
Participate in:
FAT/SAT, equipment qualification
Project coordination between OEMs, QA, validation, and operations
Training junior engineers and operators
Education:
B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering
Experience:
3–6 years of hands-on experience in automated packaging lines, ideally in regulated sectors (pharma, FMCG, nutraceuticals, or food)
Technical Skills:
Solid understanding of electro-mechanical systems, automation logic, and vision inspection
Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, machine layouts, and SOPs
Soft Skills:
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Good documentation practices and communication with cross-functional teams
