Job Title: PLC Programmer (Manufacturing)

Job Summary:

The PLC Programmer (Fresher) will be responsible for supporting the design, development, programming, and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) in manufacturing systems. This role provides an opportunity for hands-on experience with automation systems, industrial equipment, and control systems. The PLC Programmer will work closely with senior engineers to assist in the development and maintenance of PLC programs for various production systems, ensuring that manufacturing processes run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. PLC Programming and Configuration:

    • Assist in programming, configuring, and troubleshooting PLCs for automation systems in manufacturing equipment and production lines.
    • Support the development of basic control logic for machines, conveyors, and robotic systems used in the manufacturing process.
    • Collaborate with senior engineers to test, debug, and optimize PLC programs to ensure smooth and efficient system operations.
  2. System Integration and Testing:

    • Work on integrating PLCs with other control systems such as SCADA, HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) to ensure seamless operation and data flow across manufacturing systems.
    • Assist in conducting system tests to ensure proper function and troubleshoot minor issues that arise during testing.
  3. Troubleshooting and Maintenance Support:

    • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to PLC systems, ensuring minimal downtime in production.
    • Provide basic support for routine maintenance and repairs to keep PLC-controlled systems running optimally.
    • Help in performing system diagnostics and analyzing PLC faults to implement corrective actions.
  4. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in maintaining technical documentation for PLC programs, including system configurations, flowcharts, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting logs.
    • Support the creation of reports detailing PLC system performance, issues encountered, and resolutions.
    • Keep accurate records of system changes, updates, and maintenance procedures to ensure traceability and compliance.
  5. Collaboration and Learning:

    • Work with cross-functional teams such as production, maintenance, and quality assurance to address any issues related to PLC systems and ensure production goals are met.
    • Participate in team meetings, providing progress updates on programming tasks and challenges encountered.
    • Learn about the latest developments in PLC programming, automation technologies, and industrial equipment.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Participate in training programs on PLC programming and industrial automation systems, gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge.
    • Stay updated with advancements in automation technology, PLC hardware, and software platforms to enhance skills and improve program development.

  • PLC Programming: Assist in programming and debugging PLC systems used in manufacturing environments.
  • System Integration: Help in integrating PLCs with other control systems for optimal system functionality.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Learn to troubleshoot and maintain PLC-controlled systems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Learning and Development: Build technical expertise in PLC programming, automation systems, and industrial control technologies.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of PLCs, control systems, and industrial automation principles.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, structured text, function block).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, robotics, and automation equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with senior engineers and other departments.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of PLC programming and automation technologies.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Basic coursework or certifications in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) is a plus.

Experience:

  • No prior full-time experience is required; internships or academic projects involving PLC programming or industrial automation will be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems, robotics, or manufacturing systems through academic coursework or hands-on projects is beneficial.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Exposure to PLC programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Mitsubishi GX Works).
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems and control devices such as sensors, actuators, and drives is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting tools, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software.
