Job Summary:
The Junior Oil and Gas Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for supporting the maintenance, calibration, and optimization of instrumentation systems used in drilling, refining, and extraction processes. This role involves independently handling routine tasks, troubleshooting basic issues, and contributing to the integration and monitoring of SCADA systems for pipeline management. The engineer ensures compliance with safety protocols, supports regulatory adherence, and collaborates with teams to enhance system reliability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Process Control and Maintenance:
- Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation systems for monitoring pressure, flow, temperature, and level in drilling, refining, and extraction operations.
- Support the integration and configuration of sensors, transmitters, and controllers to ensure process efficiency and reliability.
- Assist in analyzing process data and trends to optimize system performance.
SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management:
- Monitor and maintain SCADA systems to ensure accurate real-time data acquisition from pipelines.
- Diagnose and resolve minor issues in SCADA system parameters, including alarms, trends, and performance data.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to optimize SCADA integration with Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
Safety and Emergency Systems:
- Perform routine maintenance and testing of safety and emergency shutdown systems, such as gas detectors, flame sensors, and safety valves.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to implementing safety measures during maintenance and operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with organizational safety standards and actively participate in safety drills.
Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor environmental parameters and contribute to maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
- Assist in preparing reports for environmental audits and regulatory submissions.
- Support the implementation of environmentally friendly practices in operational workflows.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate logs of calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare basic technical reports on system performance, issues resolved, and maintenance activities.
- Contribute to the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for instrumentation systems.
Collaboration and Team Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and safety personnel, to ensure seamless system integration and operation.
- Provide support for system installations, upgrades, and commissioning tasks.
- Contribute to team discussions on process improvements and system optimization strategies.

Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certifications or training in SCADA systems, safety instrumentation, or process automation are desirable.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in instrumentation systems maintenance, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Hands-on experience with basic troubleshooting, calibration, and SCADA monitoring tasks.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency in using tools like multimeters, loop calibrators, and pressure gauges.
- Familiarity with SCADA software platforms such as Siemens WinCC, ABB, or Honeywell Experion.
- Exposure to Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
