Job Title: Junior - Network Security Engineer

Job Summary

The Junior Network Security Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding an organization's network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the deployment and configuration of network security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint protection solutions.
  • Monitor network traffic and security alerts, analyzing logs for potential threats and anomalies.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve security incidents effectively.
  • Help maintain and update security policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct security awareness training sessions for employees to promote best practices in cybersecurity.
  • Stay informed about the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices to enhance the organization's security posture.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Basic understanding of network security concepts such as firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
  • Knowledge of common security protocols and encryption standards.
  • Familiarity with security tools like Wireshark, Nmap, and Snort.
  • Basic scripting knowledge in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell is a plus.
  • Understanding of authentication mechanisms including LDAP, SSO, and MFA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address security challenges.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or Cisco CCNA Security are preferred but not required.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Security monitoring and incident response.

  • Assisting in risk assessments and compliance activities.

  • Learning and improving cybersecurity knowledge.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience in network security or related fields.

Tools and Equipment

  • Firewalls (Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight, IBM QRadar).
  • Endpoint security solutions (CrowdStrike, Symantec, McAfee).
