Job Summary

The Senior Network Administrator is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for overseeing complex network systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. This position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in network architecture and management, who can lead initiatives that enhance network security and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of both traditional and cloud-based networking environments, enabling them to implement effective solutions that meet the evolving needs of the business. As a senior member of the IT team, the Senior Network Administrator will also mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex network architectures that support the organization's goals and objectives.
• Lead network security and compliance initiatives to safeguard sensitive information and ensure adherence to industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve high-impact network issues, minimizing downtime and maintaining service availability.
• Manage vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring that services and products meet organizational needs and budget constraints.
• Mentor junior and mid-level administrators, providing guidance and support to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Configure and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points, to ensure optimal performance.
• Monitor and optimize network performance, utilizing advanced tools and techniques to identify and rectify inefficiencies.
• Implement network security policies and procedures to protect the integrity of the network and its data.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and coordinate with vendors as necessary to resolve problems effectively.
• Perform network upgrades and apply patches to maintain system integrity and security.
• Document network configurations and changes to maintain accurate records and facilitate future troubleshooting.
• Provide support for cloud-based and hybrid network solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
• Train junior network administrators and IT staff on best practices and new technologies to enhance team capabilities.

Skills and Knowledge Required

• Advanced networking knowledge, including MPLS, SD-WAN, QoS, and multicast.
• Strong cybersecurity and risk management experience to protect against potential threats.
• Deep understanding of cloud and hybrid networking solutions.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols and services, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and VPNs.
• Experience with firewall configuration and security best practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking issues effectively.
• Understanding of cloud networking platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
• Scripting knowledge in Python and Bash for automation purposes.

Educational Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or a related field.
• CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certification preferred.

Experience

• 7+ years of experience in network administration, demonstrating a track record of success in complex environments.

Tools and Equipment

• Enterprise-level networking tools such as Cisco ACI, Palo Alto, and Fortinet.
• Network monitoring and management tools, including Nagios and SolarWinds.
• Configuration management tools like Ansible and Terraform.
