We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mid-Level NDT Technician to perform non-destructive testing on welded, cast, and machined valve components. The ideal candidate holds Level I or II certification in one or more NDT methods (PT, MT, UT, RT) and has hands-on experience in an industrial or precision manufacturing environment. The technician will play a key role in identifying discontinuities that could affect part integrity and ensuring compliance with quality standards and customer specifications.
Perform NDT inspections on welded assemblies, cast components, and precision-machined valve parts using approved techniques and procedures.
Interpret inspection results and document findings in accordance with industry standards and internal procedures.
Prepare test surfaces and ensure proper application of test materials for dye penetrant (PT), magnetic particle (MT), ultrasonic (UT), or radiographic (RT) testing.
Set up and calibrate NDT equipment and ensure test accuracy through proper technique and environmental control.
Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ASTM, ISO, API) and specific customer requirements.
Work with production and quality teams to evaluate non-conformities and recommend corrective actions.
Maintain detailed and accurate inspection reports, calibration records, and traceability documentation.
Support and mentor junior technicians and assist in training activities.
Follow safety protocols, including those specific to radiation (for RT) or chemical handling.
Advanced Inspection Execution: Independently perform NDT inspections using certified methods with minimal supervision.
Defect Identification & Evaluation: Accurately detect and evaluate indications such as cracks, porosity, inclusions, and undercuts.
Process Understanding: Deep familiarity with how common defects arise in welds, castings, and machined valve components.
Regulatory Compliance: Execute inspections per ASNT, ASME, ASTM, or customer specifications and document results accordingly.
Technical Documentation: Maintain clear and traceable inspection records that support audit and quality requirements.
Collaboration & Support: Interface with production, welding, and machining teams to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in NDT, mechanical inspection, or related field preferred.
Level I or Level II certification in at least one NDT method (PT, MT, UT, or RT) per ASNT-TC-1A or ISO 9712.
Minimum 2–5 years of hands-on NDT experience in industrial, oil & gas, aerospace, or valve manufacturing environments.
Solid understanding of welding, casting, and machining processes and associated defect types.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as ASME Section V, ASTM E165, E1444, E709, etc.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret results and relay quality issues.
Proficient in using inspection tools, gauges, and computer systems for report generation and recordkeeping.
