Job Title: Mid-Level NDT Specialist – Weld and Fabrication Quality (VT, RT, UT, MT)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mid-Level NDT Specialist to join our Marine Mechanical (Fabrication) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and evaluating a variety of non-destructive tests (VT, RT, UT, MT) to ensure the integrity and quality of welds and fabricated components on marine structures, vessels, and mechanical systems in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform Visual Testing (VT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) on welds and fabricated components.

  • Interpret and evaluate test results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and procedures (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO, ABS, DNV).

  • Prepare and maintain accurate NDT inspection records, reports, and documentation.

  • Support quality assurance programs by ensuring compliance with customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements.

  • Collaborate with welders, fabrication technicians, engineers, and quality personnel to resolve quality-related issues and recommend corrective actions.

  • Assist in reviewing weld maps, fabrication drawings, and inspection plans.

  • Ensure NDT equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.

  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote a safe working environment in shipyards and marine facilities.

  • Participate in audits, quality meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in NDT or related field preferred.

  • ASNT/PCN Level II certification (or equivalent) in VT, RT, UT, and MT is required.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of NDT experience in weld inspection and fabrication quality within the marine or heavy fabrication industry.

  • Solid understanding of marine mechanical systems and fabrication processes.

  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS D1.1, ISO 9712, ABS, DNV).

  • Strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Good communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work in shipyard, offshore, or confined space environments.

  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol screening and obtain necessary security clearances, if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital radiography and phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) is a plus.

  • Knowledge of shipbuilding QA/QC workflows and practices.

  • Familiarity with fabrication planning and weld traceability systems.
