Job Summary:
The Supervisor Metering Technician oversees the installation, calibration, and maintenance of metering systems across industrial and utility operations. This role involves managing a team of technicians, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards, and optimizing system performance. The Supervisor also serves as a technical resource, guiding the team in troubleshooting and maintaining precise measurement systems.
Supervise and coordinate the activities of metering technicians, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members to enhance their skills and efficiency.
Conduct regular team meetings to review progress, address challenges, and align with project objectives.
Oversee the installation and calibration of metering systems, such as flow, gas, and electrical meters.
Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance activities are carried out efficiently to minimize downtime.
Monitor system performance and address technical issues promptly to ensure accurate measurements.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to plan and execute metering projects.
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary tools, equipment, and materials.
Prepare and maintain documentation, including calibration records, maintenance logs, and compliance certificates.
Ensure all metering activities comply with industry standards ( ISO, API) and safety protocols.
Conduct inspections and audits to uphold quality and reliability in metering systems.
Implement corrective actions to address identified risks or deficiencies.
Prepare regular reports for management on system performance, maintenance schedules, and team activities.
Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all metering assets and their operational status.
Proficiency in metering technologies, including ultrasonic, Coriolis, and turbine meters.
Strong knowledge of calibration techniques and troubleshooting methods for metering systems.
Familiarity with communication protocols, such as Modbus, HART, and Ethernet.
Proven ability to lead and manage a team of technicians effectively.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Understanding of industry standards and regulations, such as ISO 17025, API MPMS, and safety guidelines.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Certifications in metering systems or calibration ( NEL Flow Measurement Certification) are advantageous.
5-7 years of experience in metering systems, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Demonstrated ability to manage teams and coordinate metering projects successfully.
Familiarity with calibration tools, such as portable calibrators, pressure gauges, and diagnostic software.
Knowledge of testing equipment for evaluating metering system performance.
Proficiency in software tools for scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and compliance in all activities.
Flexibility to travel to project sites and oversee field operations as needed.
Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and incorporate them into team practices.
