Job Summary:The Metering Technician independently manages the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex metering systems. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and reliability of metering devices, optimizing system performance, and supporting large-scale operational activities. The technician collaborates with cross-functional teams, leads on-site installations, and mentors junior technicians.
Independently calibrate, test, and maintain advanced metering systems, including flow meters, energy meters, and pressure measurement devices.
Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics to ensure system reliability and identify potential issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems in metering systems, coordinating with engineers for escalated challenges.
Oversee the installation, configuration, and commissioning of new metering devices at field sites.
Maintain detailed records of calibration results, maintenance activities, and system performance.
Optimize metering systems to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
Mentor and guide junior technicians, providing technical expertise and training.
Ensure all metering activities comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and organizational protocols.
Proficiency in metering systems, calibration procedures, and measurement principles ( flow, pressure, energy).
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex system issues.
Ability to interpret technical documentation, including manuals, schematics, and calibration certificates.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for metering systems ( ISO, ANSI).
Leadership skills to mentor and guide junior team members.
Diploma or associate degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related technical field.
Certifications in metrology or calibration are advantageous.
3-5 years of hands-on experience in metering systems, with a proven ability to handle advanced calibration and troubleshooting tasks.
Advanced calibration tools ( ultrasonic flow meters, pressure calibrators, thermal calibrators).
Diagnostic equipment ( multimeters, oscilloscopes, loop calibrators).
Calibration management software for logging and documentation.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teams and clients.
High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards.
Flexibility to travel to remote sites for system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
