Job Title: Metering Engineer
Job Summary:
The Senior Metering Engineer is responsible for leading metering operations, including installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and optimization of complex metering systems. This role involves developing advanced metering procedures, ensuring compliance with international standards, and mentoring junior engineers. The Senior Metering Engineer contributes to strategic planning and drives innovation to enhance metering accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Metering Operations and Leadership:
- Lead the installation, configuration, and commissioning of sophisticated metering systems, including ultrasonic, coriolis, and turbine meters.
- Perform advanced calibration, testing, and verification of metering systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with standards.
- Oversee troubleshooting and resolution of critical metering system issues, providing technical expertise to minimize downtime.
Strategic Planning and Process Optimization:
- Develop and refine metering procedures, ensuring alignment with international standards such as API, ISO, and AGA.
- Identify inefficiencies in metering processes and implement innovative solutions to improve accuracy and reduce operational costs.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and integrate modern tools and methodologies into metering operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and review detailed calibration records, compliance reports, and performance analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to regulatory standards and is audit-ready.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on metering performance data.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure metering systems comply with organizational quality protocols and international regulatory standards.
- Lead internal and external audits, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to enhance metering accuracy and reliability.
Mentorship and Team Development:
- Mentor and train junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Provide leadership in cross-functional projects, ensuring metering operations align with organizational objectives.
- Act as a technical authority and resource for metering-related queries and challenges.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Advanced knowledge of metering principles, including flow, pressure, and temperature measurement.
- Expertise in operating and maintaining advanced metering devices such as ultrasonic flow meters, coriolis meters, and smart transmitters.
- Proficiency in metering software, data acquisition systems, and automation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for diagnosing complex metering issues and implementing solutions.
- Deep understanding of quality standards and regulations, including API, ISO 17025, and AGA guidelines.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Advanced certifications in metering, flow measurement, or related fields (e.g., ISO 17025 Lead Auditor) are highly desirable.
Key Focus Areas:
- Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Leading the design, optimization, and troubleshooting of advanced metering systems for process control in drilling, refining, and extraction operations, ensuring high accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with operational standards.
- SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Overseeing the strategic integration, calibration, and troubleshooting of metering devices within SCADA systems, ensuring reliability, security, and data accuracy across pipeline operations.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Managing and improving metering systems crucial to safety and emergency shutdown systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, performance, and compliance with global regulations.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Driving compliance efforts for metering systems, ensuring adherence to environmental, safety, and regulatory standards, and leading audits and corrective actions to address any issues and improve system efficiency.
- Leadership and Mentorship: Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, ensuring best practices in metering system design, maintenance, and calibration are followed, and fostering continuous improvement within the team.
Experience:
- 7-10 years of experience in metering operations or a related field.
- Proven expertise in managing complex calibration, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives.
Tools and Equipment:
- Advanced metering tools such as ultrasonic flow meters, coriolis meters, data loggers, and signal analyzers.
- Familiarity with metering management software and advanced analytics tools.
