Job Title: Metering Engineer

Job Summary:

The Mid-Level Metering Engineer is responsible for managing metering systems and operations, including installation, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex metering equipment. This role involves ensuring metering accuracy, compliance with industry standards, and contributing to process improvements. The Mid-Level Metering Engineer works independently and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize metering performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Metering Operations:

  • Install, configure, and commission advanced metering systems, including ultrasonic, turbine, and coriolis flow meters.
  • Conduct routine and advanced calibration of metering systems to maintain accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in metering systems, ensuring minimal downtime.

Process Optimization:

  • Evaluate metering operations and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Implement advanced tools and methodologies to improve data acquisition and system performance.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of metering procedures and protocols.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, including calibration certificates, compliance documentation, and performance analyses.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with standards such as API, ISO, and AGA.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure metering systems comply with industry standards and organizational quality protocols.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, addressing non-conformities and implementing corrective actions.
  • Monitor metering performance metrics and implement strategies to ensure consistent compliance.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers, technicians, and other departments to resolve metering-related challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Actively participate in training programs to enhance team knowledge and skills.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Advanced understanding of metering principles, including flow, pressure, and temperature measurement.
  • Expertise in using and maintaining metering devices such as ultrasonic flow meters, turbine meters, and smart transmitters.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in metering systems.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, metering software, and automation tools.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate system performance and implement improvements.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in metering, flow measurement, or related fields is highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Managing the calibration, optimization, and maintenance of metering systems used in process control to ensure accurate and efficient operation in drilling, refining, and extraction processes.
  • SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Overseeing the integration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of metering devices within SCADA systems, ensuring real-time data accuracy and seamless pipeline management operations.
  • Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Leading efforts to maintain and optimize metering systems that are crucial to safety and emergency shutdown systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational readiness.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all metering systems are installed, calibrated, and maintained in alignment with environmental and regulatory compliance standards, and managing audits and corrective actions when necessary.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in metering operations or related fields.
  • Proven ability to independently manage complex calibration and troubleshooting tasks.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Advanced metering tools, such as ultrasonic flow meters, coriolis meters, and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficiency in metering management software for tracking, analysis, and reporting.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining safety, quality, and compliance in all metering operations.
