Job Title: Metering Engineer
Job Summary:
The Junior Metering Engineer is responsible for conducting metering operations, including installation, calibration, and maintenance, with minimal supervision. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of metering systems, troubleshooting basic issues, and maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Junior Metering Engineer contributes to the reliability and efficiency of metering operations while supporting senior team members in achieving organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Metering Operations:
- Perform installation and setup of metering devices, such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, and temperature sensors.
- Conduct routine calibration and testing of metering systems to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving metering system issues during operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of calibration and maintenance activities.
- Prepare performance and compliance reports for metering systems, including calibration certificates and test results.
- Ensure all documentation complies with organizational and regulatory standards.
Compliance and Safety:
- Follow safety protocols and organizational guidelines during all metering activities.
- Ensure metering operations adhere to industry standards, such as API, ISO, and AGA regulations.
- Participate in audits and inspections to verify compliance with quality and safety requirements.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate metering and data integrity.
- Support operational teams by providing insights and resolving minor technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for metering processes and systems.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Solid understanding of metering principles, including flow, pressure, and temperature measurement.
- Familiarity with metering devices such as ultrasonic flow meters, turbine meters, and differential pressure transmitters.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for addressing calibration and operational issues in metering systems.
- Knowledge of data acquisition systems and metering software is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures accurately.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Certification or training in metering or flow measurement is desirable.
Key Focus Areas:
- Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Assisting in the routine calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of metering systems to ensure accurate measurement and smooth operation in drilling, refining, and extraction processes.
- SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of metering systems integrated with SCADA, ensuring accurate data flow and real-time monitoring of pipeline operations.
- Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Assisting in the testing, calibration, and maintenance of metering systems that are integral to safety and emergency shutdown procedures, ensuring proper system functionality.
- Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Helping ensure that metering systems comply with environmental and regulatory standards, participating in audits and inspections as needed to maintain compliance.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in metering operations or related fields.
- Hands-on experience with calibration, testing, or maintenance of metering systems is preferred.
Tools and Equipment:
- Familiarity with metering devices such as flow meters, pressure sensors, and temperature calibrators.
- Exposure to metering management software or data acquisition systems is desirable.
