Job Title: Metering Engineer

Job Summary:

The Fresher Metering Engineer is responsible for assisting in the installation, calibration, testing, and maintenance of metering systems to ensure accurate measurement of fluids and gases. This role focuses on developing foundational skills in metering operations, supporting senior engineers, and contributing to compliance with industry standards and organizational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Metering Operations:

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and setup of metering devices, such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, and temperature sensors.
  • Perform basic calibration and testing of metering systems under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Support routine maintenance tasks to ensure metering accuracy and reliability.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Record calibration and maintenance activities accurately in logs and reports.
  • Assist in preparing metering system performance reports and data summaries for review.
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with industry and organizational standards.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and organizational guidelines during installation, calibration, and maintenance activities.
  • Gain familiarity with industry standards such as API, ISO, and AGA for metering systems.
  • Participate in training sessions to understand safety, metering principles, and industry regulations.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior engineers and technicians to complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Support team efforts in troubleshooting and resolving basic issues with metering systems.
  • Contribute to discussions about improving metering accuracy and operational efficiency.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of metering principles, including flow, pressure, and temperature measurement.
  • Familiarity with metering devices such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, and data acquisition systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn technical aspects of metering systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and addressing minor issues in metering equipment.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Training or coursework in metering or flow measurement is an advantage but not mandatory.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Process Control in Drilling, Refining, and Extraction: Assisting in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of metering systems used for process control in drilling, refining, and extraction operations to ensure accurate measurement and system efficiency.
  • SCADA Systems for Pipeline Management: Supporting the configuration and maintenance of metering devices integrated with SCADA systems to ensure proper pipeline monitoring and data collection.
  • Safety and Emergency Shutdown Systems: Learning about and assisting with the setup, calibration, and testing of metering systems that are integrated with safety and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that all metering systems are installed and calibrated to meet environmental and regulatory standards, supporting audits and documentation processes for compliance.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to metering systems are beneficial.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Basic tools and equipment for metering installation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Exposure to metering management software or data acquisition systems is desirable.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with peers and supervisors.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and adherence to organizational standards.
  • Willingness to participate in training programs and gain hands-on experience in metering operations.
