Job Title: Medical Equipment Calibration Specialist
Job Summary:
The Junior Medical Equipment Calibration Specialist is responsible for independently performing calibration, testing, and basic troubleshooting of medical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and regulatory standards. This role involves managing routine calibration tasks, supporting preventive maintenance, and collaborating with clinical teams to ensure the reliability of medical devices in healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Calibration and Testing:
- Perform routine calibration of medical devices, such as infusion pumps, patient monitors, ventilators, and diagnostic equipment.
- Verify and document device accuracy and reliability against manufacturer standards.
- Ensure proper calibration records are maintained for compliance and audit purposes.
Preventive Maintenance:
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning, inspecting, and adjusting equipment to ensure consistent performance.
- Monitor equipment for wear and tear and recommend replacement of parts as needed.
- Maintain and update preventive maintenance schedules.
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
- Diagnose and resolve minor issues with medical equipment using diagnostic tools and established procedures.
- Assist in identifying root causes for calibration discrepancies and implement corrective measures.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior specialists or manufacturers for resolution.
Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure calibration activities meet regulatory standards, such as ISO 13485, IEC 60601, and organizational protocols.
- Participate in internal audits and compliance reviews, providing documentation as required.
- Follow safety procedures while working with medical devices in healthcare environments.
Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure medical equipment meets operational requirements.
- Provide basic technical support to end-users for equipment handling and functionality.
- Assist in maintaining inventory of calibration tools and tracking calibration activities.
Process Improvement and Learning:
- Propose improvements to calibration processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on advancements in calibration tools, techniques, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to build technical expertise.

Educational Qualifications:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
- Certifications in medical device calibration or maintenance (e.g., ISO 13485 compliance training) are preferred.
Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in medical device calibration or a related technical field.
Tools and Technologies:
- Proficiency in using calibration tools, including multimeters, gas flow analyzers, pressure gauges, and electrical safety analyzers.
- Familiarity with software for recording and analyzing calibration data.
