Job Title: Medical Equipment Calibration Specialist

Job Summary:

The Medical Equipment Calibration Specialist at the fresher level is responsible for assisting in the calibration, testing, and maintenance of medical equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards. The specialist works under the guidance of senior team members to develop foundational skills in calibration techniques and quality assurance within healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Calibration and Testing:

  • Perform basic calibration of medical devices such as patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and diagnostic tools under supervision.
  • Assist in functional testing of equipment to verify accuracy and reliability against manufacturer specifications.
  • Document calibration activities and maintain detailed records for compliance and audit purposes.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Support preventive maintenance tasks on medical equipment to ensure consistent performance and reduce downtime.
  • Clean and inspect equipment for wear and tear, reporting potential issues to senior technicians.
  • Participate in the development of maintenance schedules and workflows.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting minor issues with medical equipment using basic diagnostic tools.
  • Follow established procedures to address calibration-related issues and escalate complex problems to senior staff.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure calibration activities adhere to regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 and IEC 60601.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain compliance with organizational and industry standards.
  • Participate in training programs to build awareness of quality and regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work with clinical staff to ensure equipment meets their operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians and quality assurance teams to enhance calibration processes.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and tracking of calibration tools and equipment.

Learning and Development:

  • Build foundational knowledge of calibration tools, techniques, and medical device functionality.
  • Attend workshops and training sessions to gain expertise in calibration and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in medical equipment calibration and technology.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Familiarity with calibration tools such as multimeters, flow analyzers, and pressure gauges.
  • Awareness of regulatory standards like ISO 13485 and IEC 60601.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn calibration techniques and best practices.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with clinical and technical staff.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related technical field.
  • Basic certifications in medical equipment maintenance or calibration are advantageous.

Experience:

  • No prior experience required; internships or academic projects related to medical equipment calibration are beneficial.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Exposure to basic calibration tools like multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, and gas flow analyzers.
  • Familiarity with data recording and analysis software is a plus.
