Job Title: Mechanical Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Mechanical Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment. With a solid understanding of mechanical systems, you will support more complex maintenance tasks, ensure the performance and efficiency of equipment, and mentor junior technicians. Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Maintenance and Repairs:
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on mechanical systems, including engines, pumps, motors, and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and safely.
- Conduct more complex mechanical repairs and replacements independently and assist senior technicians with larger repair projects.
System Diagnostics and Performance Monitoring:
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify system malfunctions, wear, or performance issues in mechanical systems.
- Assist in performing system checks, tests, and calibrations to ensure optimal functionality.
- Monitor the performance of machinery and equipment, adjusting and fine-tuning components as needed to maintain peak performance.
Project Support and Execution:
- Assist with the execution of engineering projects, including system upgrades, installations, and major repairs.
- Contribute to planning, resource allocation, and scheduling to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including reports on system performance, parts used, and work completed.
Mentorship and Training:
- Mentor junior mechanical technicians, providing guidance on maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and safety practices.
- Provide on-the-job training to less experienced staff, helping them develop their skills and grow professionally.
- Review work completed by junior technicians to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Conduct safety audits of the work environment, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety protocols at all times.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections completed on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Prepare detailed reports on mechanical issues, repairs, and the performance of machinery for management and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper usage.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work effectively with senior engineers, mechanics, and operations teams to complete maintenance and repair tasks efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project requirements and schedules are met.
- Participate in meetings to discuss ongoing work, upcoming projects, and any technical issues encountered during maintenance.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or an associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- A strong understanding of mechanical systems and equipment.
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, repair, or operations.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems such as engines, pumps, and motors.
- Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical issues and performing advanced repairs.
Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
- Experience using diagnostic tools, meters, and other mechanical testing equipment.
- Ability to work independently on complex repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor junior technicians.
- Proficient in interpreting mechanical diagrams, manuals, and blueprints.
Certifications (Preferred):
- STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) or equivalent certification.
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Relevant mechanical certifications such as welding, rigging, or engine maintenance.
