The Junior Mechanical Supervisor – HVAC Maintenance is an entry-level leadership role responsible for assisting in the supervision of HVAC maintenance activities in commercial, industrial, or institutional facilities. This role supports the maintenance team in performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC mechanical systems. The supervisor ensures work is carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with operational standards under the guidance of senior technicians or facilities leadership.
Assist in supervising day-to-day maintenance and servicing of HVAC systems, including air handlers, chillers, boilers, fans, and ductwork.
Coordinate work assignments for technicians and ensure tasks are completed on time and to standard.
Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment logs.
Support execution of preventive maintenance schedules as per OEM and facility guidelines.
Monitor HVAC equipment for signs of wear or malfunction and initiate timely repairs.
Assist in basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems and escalate complex issues to senior staff.
Promote and enforce safe work practices, PPE usage, and hazard identification.
Ensure adherence to facility policies, OSHA guidelines, and relevant HVAC codes and regulations.
Report safety incidents and equipment malfunctions promptly.
Monitor availability of spare parts, tools, and materials required for maintenance work.
Help maintain organized tool rooms and ensure proper usage and storage of mechanical tools.
Coordinate with facility engineers, electricians, and contractors for maintenance activities.
Provide regular updates to senior supervisors regarding team progress, equipment conditions, and repair needs.

High school diploma or GED (required)
Technical diploma or associate degree in HVAC, Mechanical Technology, or related field (preferred)
2–3 years of hands-on HVAC maintenance or mechanical technician experience
Prior experience in a lead or coordinator role is a plus
Basic knowledge of HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, and maintenance procedures
Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus
